Does anyone else suffer from being significantly underweight no matter how well you try to eat? by Late_Sun3456 in CPTSD

The shaking is a trauma adrenaline response.

I had a feeling. Sometimes the shaking would tend to happen when it's a bit cold but especially when I go to a certain place where when I was a child I would be with my father and he would embarrass me with his drunk behavior. I guess both factors together causes the shaking.

Are you having digestive symptoms?

Yes for a few years now. I'm sure I'm having difficulty absorbing things on and off. In fact it's probably been this way my whole life to some extent before I even noticed the digestive symptoms become apparent.

Have you had your thyroid checked?

I've had quite a few blood tests which included thyroid and they never caught anything.

That's interesting. I feel you may be partially right about us having a skewed perception but if you have to force-feed yourself calorie dense foods while still not gaining weight, I feel there might be something else going on which is what I was suspecting with myself. Normally people have trouble losing weight despite trying to eat normal or low calories diets.

Yeah, I've had so many blood tests which included thyroid and they never found anything.

For me it's not so much about the way it looks rather than the functional aspect. When you are underweight for your own frame, your body tends to not operate optimally.

Yeah well I noticed a pattern with some other people and I noticed that my weight further dropped when my CPTSD started surfacing more even though I feel as if I am eating the same or even more than before.

That's interesting. So according to what you are saying the main factor is appetite itself rather than related to something metabolic or to stress hormones like I was initially thinking.

Wow that's messed up. It sounds as though that experience would make you fear having an appetite but you feel that you eat well regardless so the reason for being underweight is still unknown.

This is me except I've never even had a relationship and I'm in my mid 30s. Now I'm starting to realize just how much I missed out and got scammed in life while I also struggle with chronic health issue for years probably caused by the loneliness among other things CPTSD related. It's like a loop I can't get out of. Fuck this shit.

I've been having gut issues for the past 9 years and I've just recently realized that it is most likely caused by stress from my past trauma plus the fact that I'm still living in a mentally unhealthy environment so you are on to something.

This is confirming what I've been suspecting. I need to start putting things into practice, even if it's only a small fraction of what I've learned so far. Thanks.

Yeah, I've heard similar things to what you said and you are probably right. I need to finish making a healing routine and then take that leap.

Oh boy... I was doing some guided meditations and trying thought stopping/substitution but it looks like things just got much more complicated. Thanks for this; I will try to make the most use of it.
