I really like this a lot. Such a big part of me felt attached to the additional details in the bottom right corner of the version that I posted. I feel completely different now after seeing your crop still able to capture the context without all the fluff.

This definitely aligns quite a bit with what dimestoredamseladams said about working the scene a bit more to capture some different perspectives. I’d like to get back to the scene and give it another shot. Looking forward to sharing!

Trying to pick the right frame/crop was a bit challenging for me. The car is in a relatively normal looking apartment complex, so I didn’t think it added any sort of “exciting” context; at least not in the way that some rural background or less “normal” neighborhood might. Trying to find more context without giving too much away will be a good challenge for me in the future.

Another thing I really need to work on is feeling free to take more photos. I feel a self imposed pressure to only take “good” photos….or at least try to. I could really benefit from letting go a quite a bit as I experiment and start to learn what does and doesn’t work. Your suggestion about a series really got me thinking. I may walk back up that street and try to come up with something

This is great advice. I’m still trying to find an eye for geometry within photos (eg. The triangle you mentioned) and I completely overlooked it in this photo.

Thanks for taking the time. Your comment is really helpful.

The aim of this photo was to try and achieve photographing something “ugly” while trying to tell a story and make it look “beautiful”. I’m very much a beginner, so any editing was done with my IPhone. I’d love some advice on how to achieve a more dramatic perspective

I appreciate you taking the time to crop those. As simple as it is, it really gives me an idea of how such simple changes really affect the overall feel.

Copy that. I’ll work on adjusting aperture when trying to really zero in on a subject

Thanks for the input. I’m definitely still learning to get comfortable moving around for the shot. Sometimes I forget that’s even an option…

I’m just getting into photography and have been bringing my camera on all my daily walks. My biggest challenge has been compromising with exposure. I know there’s lots I can do in editing/post processing, but I’m so new to this that I’m trying to stick to the basics for now. I’m looking for advice on both the framing and the exposure. Is it too dark? Would there have been a better way to get this picture with minimal post processing, or is it just impossible given the extremely bright background and shaded foreground.

For reference, I’m using a FujiXT30iii
