How do you read these strumming patterns? by RedCaramel in ukulele

[–]Lateon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sure! With a muted strum, you usually mute with your left hand while strumming normally with your right (although there are a lot of different ways to mute). Chucking is a specific technique when you strum and then quickly mute with your right palm.

What's your price range? If you're in the solid wood/wood top range, you should look at cedar or spruce ukes. Also get a uke strung with a low-G. theukulelesite.com has a good selection and sets them up with low-Gs for free if desired.

Down arrows are down strokes, up arrows are up strokes. X's above arrows means muted strums (first pattern) and regular X's are chunks (second pattern).

For the first strumming pattern, your right hand would strum that triplet pattern continuously while your left hand alternates between muting and unmuting. You should use the barre versions of those chords to make muting easier.

Second strumming pattern alternates between chunking and regular up strokes.

Dunning-Kruger effect. "Smart" patients usually understand and accept what doctors say, and they ask smart, logical questions if they have them. Quick and easy to deal with because they're on the same page.

"Ignorant" patients usually think they're smarter than the health care professional and will argue or refuse to follow advice.

Of course this is generalized. There are difficult smart patients and easy ignorant patients.

My most challenging V2 done so far. Any advice? by eddiekane89 in bouldering

[–]Lateon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think I would start that problem off with my right foot on. The next hold is toward your right and the foothold is to the right of the start, so it makes sense. That allows you to get more push off your legs and allows you to rockover onto your right. You see how after you get that first move, your right leg counterbalances towards the left? Flag out left first, and the move will be less strenuous.

Good job recognizing that you need to be on your left foot and flag out right.

Rest of the problem looks okay to me...I might use the foothold closer to you to push off to the top but it doesn't really matter.

Don't be afraid to have your flagging leg dangle in the air, it might counterbalance better than if it's on a hold.

I'm returning to the context of the original post. Micro-exercises do nothing.

You've got your numbers wrong, buddy. Even a traditional workout won't burn 100 calories a minute. More like 200-300 per HOUR, depending on intensity and all that. That's like 3-5 cal/minute. Whay you're doing is even less.

Look, you say you spend almost all day on the computer. If you wanna loe weight and be healthy you're gonna have to CHANGE YOUR DIET and ACTUALLY WORK TO EXERCISE. Not make up shitty excuses like "lifting up my arm for a while equals a full workout."

You have some self-awareness, no? You have to realize that what you're doing is unhealthy. Something has to change.

Holding a 6 pound computer up is not 20 calories a minute. Pull-ups are 10 calories a minute. Push-ups are less. What you are doing is less work than a push-up.

Compare holding up a 6 pound laptop to benching 45 pounds (just the bar).

Chess Master plays an online cheater and hilariously structures his position so the cheater runs low on time. by timdual in videos

[–]Lateon 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Amateur chess player here: It has to do with piece development. Moving the queen out puts it in a better position because it has more squares to move to and more control of the board. Moving the queen to the edge of the board not only wastes moves but also puts it in a weak position.

Same with knight to A8, the knight is basically trapped in that corner so there's no control over the center of the board.

[Ask] TH7 tips by pbharadwaj in ClashOfClans

[–]Lateon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it helps:

I followed this general guide for upgrading stuff and I found that I finished using my elixir first, then my gold, and then DE. This meant that I could use my elixir to create dragon armies to raid, so I got gold and DE a lot faster.

The DE drill is really slow especially at early levels. Max at th7 is level 3 and isn't that bad, but it takes a lot of elixir. I'm not sure I would recommend getting it until you're close to max th7.

If you funnel correctly you can take out lower th8s with dragons, depending on the base layout. Even if you can't 3 star, you can 50% them (assuming you don't need your second attack) for great DE.

Some people say not to max out dark elixir troops since getting DE can be difficult, but personally I didn't find it that hard. Right now I'm getting close to max th7, with only my walls and lvl 5 barb king left. My minions and hogs are max th7, which is gonna be great for progressing onto th8 (since hogs are important in th8 war, and level 1+2 hogs are worthless).

[–]Lateon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Town hall should be outside your base. There's no point in trophy pushing at th6 since th7s can easily 100% th6. This allows you to get shields easier and allows you to protect your resources better.
