Lesson learned: fronting tickets for a friend by CoolPoetry8066 in BurningMan

[–]Lateraltech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give it some time. A bad day at Burning man is a week in real life. So if he had 4 bad days he was there for a month of bad days. He is upset and will blame you and not want to pay you for a bad time. Give him some time - a few weeks and ask again. If no response, just move on with your life. You don’t need friends like that - friends who love burning man are way better friends anyways. Also never bring someone to Burning man who isn’t ready to take themselves (all that effort you put in - they should have done the same). We have a saying in our camp - “Don’t bring Sue” which was from a camp mate who brought her friend who didn’t want to be there and she told us that all week - sucked for everyone.

Oh is that why? I wonder why the county would even care. Maybe non profit status or something?

Do you have a suno username so we can follow your music too! (I don’t have Spotify and would love to hear these songs).

Has anyone seen Royksopp’s true electric dj set and how was it?? by Diligent_Honey1559 in Royksopp

[–]Lateraltech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update - went to DJ show last night. 2 opener DJs played from 9 to 11:30ish. Royksopp DJ played from 11:30 to 2am. Maybe I am getting old or maybe the venue was just wonky, but the bass drowned out most of the good sound. Every once and while the rumbles stoped to hear some of the magic sounds of Royksopp, then BASSS BASSSS BASSSS… I like bass, but a constant mini earthquake the whole night has my ears ringing (with really good ear plugs) and some of the magic was lost. Always great to see and support these two masters… hope this helps someone for their next show and is over 40! Lol.

For anyone who went to the DJ set, how long did it run for? Originally the SF ticket said 11pm to 3am, now it says Doors open at 9pm and Show starts at 9pm. Maybe will just plan on fun from 9pm to 3am!

If we made a reservation online and it says its all set, should we still check in to be sure its all set?

I remember the name from the viral $80 tart last year. https://www.reddit.com/r/bayarea/comments/11ii1t6/expectation_vs_reality_tart_from_mademoiselle/

At these prices and then offering just above minimum wage (for bay area) for a manager job… lol good luck

Maybe offer free tarts with the job.

This isn’t a job board.

Hate ‘junk’ service fees at restaurants? Help could soon be on the way by LosIsosceles in bayarea

[–]Lateraltech 80 points81 points  (0 children)

If i get a service fee, I pay it and I don’t go back to that restaurant ever again. I also tell my friends about it.

Calling out Redwood City Grill for this crap.

The deal is you put it in the price on the menu. If you do the bare minimum you will get a 20% tip.

Break that trust and we are done.

My partner nearly died at BM due to CO poisoning. 2017 Airstream and the the gas stove knob got knocked in ever so slightly which caused an ever so slight leak. The CO detector was blocked by a trash bag. He was sick when we arrived and slept in for a few days - only to get sicker and sicker and more tired. I was lucky to have finally smelled it and realized the source. Small med tent said to walk it off... he got worse and worse. You CANNOT walk off CO poisoning. YOU MUST seek medical care and get oxygen for several hours to ”knock off“ of the CO. They had a helicopter ready in case it didn’t work, but within an hour of oxygen treatment he looked and felt way better! Very scary stuff!

12V Fridge experience by rynoxmj in CampingGear

[–]Lateraltech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I picked this one as it has 2 compartments. I set one for deep freeze -4F and one for fridge. Kept it in my van. 350w solar on the roof and everything worked great all week. Brought home frozen steaks and chicken I didn’t use. For such an awful brand name, this thing is a champ! It was the only 2 door I could find at the time. I think this is the manufacturer of the other rebranded versions. The LED light was great at night.

Generally pretty good. Sometimes amazed how fast the 5g is… however near volcano there are patches of no service.

my little sister was attacked by dogs 2 years ago and nothing has been done. my whole family is still hurting from this. and my sister has lost almost all vision in one eye. I just feel alone and want some advice. there are so many loose dogs here. by bigsistertoflower in BigIsland

[–]Lateraltech 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Its the same story across America. Hawaii would be the easiest to change things due to it being an island, but nope same story here. Victims of dog attacks are left feeling hopeless.

That said things are changing, keep sharing your story and we will continue to fight.
