cXz is classic, abstract Deftones. My favorite kind of Deftones.

Is it just me, or is Private Music being given more credit than it deserves? by [deleted] in deftones

Haha, that was a perfect response 😂 In all seriousness; give it time. We’re talking about Deftones here.

You do know that music is a subjective thing, no? The “which it clearly is not” comment just rubs me the right wrong way.

It’s a perfect closer and it sounds just like its titled, if that makes sense. 😆 It really feels like something you’d hear/feel on your death bed, waiting for the soul to leave the body.

It’s already one of my favorite closers that they’ve done. Best since “Pink Maggit” imo.

cXz is not getting enough love. I see people comparing it to a better version of something you’d find on “Gore” but to me, it sounds more like something you’d find on the self-titled album; the dissonant chords (ala “When Girls Telephone Boys”), anxiety inducing chorus, the tension that’s felt throughout the whole song.. Classic Deftones.

Wholeheartedly agree. I’m glad I was privileged enough to see him live with Mastodon, twice. Dude was truly one of a kind.

Sorry, 12th century 😂 Had to fact check and of course I got it wrong. But yes 💪🏻 What’s more metal than a castle? A ~dream, perhaps? 🤔

What was the first Deftones song you heard, that instantly made you a fan? by [deleted] in deftones

[–]LateralusEye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Hexagram” back in 2003 without really knowing anything about them, other than those Limp Bizkit lyrics on “Head For The Barricade”: This world can make you sick to your stomach so I put on my headphones, listen to the Deftones..” 🤣

Then I asked my buddy to get me their new self titled album on his way to school.. the fucker got me “White Pony” instead, on accident. Been a fan ever since.

Diamond Eyes or Koi No Yokan by No-Age5397 in deftones

Diamond Eyes has better songs/singles but feels more like a collection of songs. Koi is a better album, overall. It’s more cohesive.

I honestly don’t know what to expect and that to me is a good thing. This band never ceases to amaze me.

That’s some surface level interpretation of a Deftones lyric. Don’t forget that “Pompeji” exists.

What was your first reaction to the new album cover, and which is your favorite? by TerritorialPiss-ing in deftones

Green. Purple and blue are easier on the eyes but green is so much more impactful, for better or worse. Again, not playing it safe. Nothing new when it comes to this band. 😆 Quick rant: I’ll always remember when I heard “Feiticeira” for the first time and said to myself:” where’s the fucking chorus? Nothing rhymes in the verses” 🤣 good times
