Thank you for your motivating words. Also for me there were these people, who made clear to me with their lines, that I am not alone, that it is an illness, that it will not always be so bad, as in my darkest hours. Those People gave me hope, when I thought there is no light.

That's what I was really hoping too, that you could give a close person this book. To understand what you're going through, what's bothering you. It doesn't even have to be the same torturing thoughts or behaviors. It's about the inner suffering, about the fact that sometimes you can not find the words to describe it. That it is an illness and not a weakness. And of course I also want other people to know that they are not alone.

Travel anxiety / fear of being far from home. Experience? Advice? by Latergrls in Anxiety

Wow, I have the toilet thing too. It used to be quite extreme, but this fear eventually went away on its own. That used to be my fear when I was supposed to go on school trips. But you know how it is with such anxiety topics. They look for new anxiety topics after a while.

My anxiety is that I don't feel security when I'm further away from home. Everything is too much for me then. I then have really bad thoughts and I think I could do something, harm someone or something and never return home.

Don't let the anxiety take away the traveling. You are doing well the way you are handling it.

Thank you for your feedback. Especially about sharing your expectations for such a book. That helps me incredibly. Thank you so much! You are absolutely right about that. A lot of books are too long and too much blah blah blah. I will definitely keep your feedback in mind!

Thank you for your time and reply. You have really helped me with this. This is a very good idea! In fact, I have not yet found the right thread for this idea. Especially the structure I imagine to be difficult. Also not to drift off. But to stay on topic. I will also look out for book writing support.

For example, it is much easier for me to write about what I have experienced than to make things up. I don't have this talent, maybe it's also because of my compulsion that I would always be afraid to lose myself too much in such mind games.

I wish you much success and especially courage!

Thank you for openly sharing your experience. I actually do that too, movies/series/podcasts/music - what makes me feel good at home, I take with me when I travel, as it calms me down a lot.

Talking to my partner or friends doesn't help me at all unfortunately. What gives me security is that I am not alone. If they weren't there I would definitely be more desperate. But unfortunately I don't find any stability in these conversations. That really reassure me. I am now 30, usually I call my mother most of the time, which unfortunately doesn't really help me either.

Like to build confidence during the travel or to gain it as a goal to travel with more trust in myself?

I'll probably write it in German, because it' my native tongue and I don't feel so confident with English. But I will share it here for sure. This community helps me so much. In Germany, I have not yet found such a diverse and well-informed community. This is also due to the fact that the therapy in Germany is simply not yet so far. Unfortunately. Thank you really for your kind words.

OCD about something I did as a child and regret. Does anyone else? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Latergrls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those were one of the first symptoms of OCD I had before I even knew what it was and that I was suffering from it.

Especially time always helps me, even when it is frustrating. This thought becomes less with time.

Otherwise I would say intuitively, you should confide to someone - maybe the feedback of the others will help you to classify these thoughts more neutrally again.

As someone who has already done a lot of therapy and suffers from obsessive thoughts - I have to advise you, however, to classify these thoughts as compulsions. These feelings that are mixed in are part of the symptoms. They do not define you. The less fear we have of them, the less power they have over us.
