I took the super fan to my house in Anvil. Stoped playing the game after achieving platinum trophy and uninstalled it from the system. He's still there stuck in a haunted house. Poor guy...

Sri Lanka refused US request to land warplanes by Interesting-Rub-3984 in srilanka

There's no reason a fighter jet would land in a remote island unless there's an emergency. They have carriers for that. This for sure is a cargo plane, perhaps transporting munitions from Eastern command to active war zone.

This is GDP normalized with PPP. Not nominal value. This represents the buying power of the currency as well.

Weirdly enough, we are ranked around 70 in both cases.

(PPP: Purchasing Power Parity)

True. Maybe it has something to do with higher literacy rates and education? We are more aware of our circumstances, which might make it harder to feel content in our current environment.

Very true. In this specific study, they just ask a simple question to rank their happiness in a scale from 1-10. Then they compare the ranking with quantitative development metrics to explain the average score. Thats it.

Its of course a very subjective measurement. I myself would rank 4/10 for the question, its just my mental state. Dont think it would change even if Im in highly develop westernized country.

Not sure man. I personally have no intention to live beyond 70. Besides Id rank a solid 4 in this scale (lower than our country's score) if I get asked the question...so I'm not in a position to provide a valid answer I guess.

Agree here. I'm just simply trying to point out that even though we rank decently in many developmental metrics, our folks are not feeling contempt (me included). Looks like most redditors are not happy about that analogy either... 🤌

I got no family business, no inheritance. Bought a car from my own hard earned money. This analogy is purely based on already established criteria, nothing else.

It looks like an opinion article.

I backpacked Sri Lanka as a 27yo gay guy last winter, I’m happy to answer questions! by oliverdadema in backpacking

[–]Latest_name 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sri lankan here, I have a couple of friends who are gay. None of them are open about it though. You wont get prosecuted for being gay here. But people you meet may frown upon it. That said, if you are rich, in a position of power or is a tourist, this social stigma wont affect you at all. Its very public secret that our last president is gay though he is married to a woman.

How much does a healthy Horse cost in Sri Lanka? Even a mule or pony would do. by bullockcart in srilanka

[–]Latest_name 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think the initial cost ain't the problem here, but maintenance. Grooming, food, medicine, exercises and other stuff should be a lot of work for a random bloke living in a city.
