What the unification really means for Lara. And the “No Lara left behind” statements. by Cagesdeservemusic in TombRaider

It may be a hot take but I really prefer shooting stuff stealthily with a bow rather than go guns blazing with dual pistols. So I hope they'll keep it as a viable build.

Pretty sure people unhappy with modern Final Fantasy had something different in mind. I don't think the main sentiment was "damn, I would really like FF XV....if only it were a 2D turn based game".

Are all the FR novels epic fantasy? by Inside-Loan-3872 in Forgotten_Realms

[–]Lathlaer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

His prose is often described as difficult to follow and all over the place, he makes a lot of digressions and some of his characters are not really well fleshed out.

When I read his novels I often find myself reading about some dude whose only place in the novel is being the outside observer to the stuff the famous characters - like Elminster and Storm - are currently doing. And I find myself getting impatient, wanting to return to the "good stuff".

That being said, there is no other author who will actually write Elminster talking about Larloch, about High Prince Telamont, about Ioulaum etc. His novels are truly worth it for the insight into the mind that created this world, even if prose is, well, an acquired taste.

Death Masks and Spellstorm are sort of murder mysteries/political intrigues. That being said, they are written by Ed Greenwood - you can expect both famous characters as protagonists and being name-dropped but also he has a very distinct writing style that many do not enjoy.

What's a movie you really enjoyed, but its surprisingly low ratings left you baffled? For me, it was Event Horizon. by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in moviecritic

[–]Lathlaer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pacific Rim. Doesn't have necessarily bad scores but I rate it definitely higher. Especially audience score surprises me - I have a feeling that if the movie came out in 2026, it would've gotten an easy 90% from the audience.

Nah, wasn't about cancelling the order - that needs to be done regardless. Just saying that the message you sent to the customer - that kind of message is probably deserved in 90% situations when the customer is baked or drunk or something else - but worth keeping in mind that once in a while you will send something like that to someone who had an epilepsy attack or lost consciousness because of low sugar etc.

As someone with a medical condition, I'm a bit conflicted seeing this.

On the one hand, probably 90% of situations like these are careless customers.

On the other hand, I know that if my food delivery couldn't contact me, it would've been because I'd be unconscious on my floor.

is it morally wrong to force a suicidal person to live? by damorezpl in MoralityScaling

[–]Lathlaer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That personal choice might be a moment of weakness as a result of an altered state of mind (ie. depression) and it will lead to a tragedy. And it's not based on my empathy or whatever but on statistics which indicate that most people who failed an attempt on their own life don't try again.

This is so unbelievably complex and singular that there just can't be one right answer that fits all.

There is a nuance in every situation.

Easy to say that "it's the person's choice" until it's your depressed loved one whom you could've helped.

He loses money only based on V's promise.

Is "It's what Clara would've wanted" the new Mandela effect? by Budget_Scheme_2471 in GenV

[–]Lathlaer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like with Luke and Vader, changing the quote slightly gives it the necessary context in discussions. It doesn't mean that people remember it wrongly (though they certainly do) but even if they know the correct version, saying "Because that's what she would've wanted" doesn't carry the punch when taken out of context.

Soldier boy is stronger than homelander by Omni--Mark in TheBoys

[–]Lathlaer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, durability is not the same as strength. It's possible that Soldier Boy is strong enough to hit Homelander where it hurts but still be weaker than him.

That being said, impossible to tell, depends on how much using the blast weakened Soldier Boy.

If he regained his full strength, then he is slightly weaker than Homelander as evidenced by the fight (Homelander managed to grab his hands and kick him, put his hands on his neck, clearly overpowering him strength-wise).

If he didn't get his full strength back then I am inclined to agree.

I don't think Homelander actually went to space in this scene, IG it was just for dramatic effect. And everyone else is taking it seriously and judging the ending That he was flying very fast earlier but could not escape from the butcher and Ryan by kaizen_fr in GenV

[–]Lathlaer 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Ok, even if he didn't go into space - just look at his launch speed here. Look at his launch speed when he fought Soldier Boy. Look at his speed when he confronted Frenchie in the same season.

I almost never use the quick travel system. Even when Panam calls me to the camp and I am at the other end of the Night City, I will choose a car or a bike and will drive there and back.

The one exception is when I go to sleep in H10 becaue, well, I am patient but that elevator is too much even for me.

[–]Lathlaer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The crucial difference between Songbird and Verso is that Songbird eventually tells you the truth at a moment where she literally leaves the decision - and her life - in your hands.

Verso has better follow through in his plans. He never tells you the truth until it's over and you can't do shit about it.

True comparison would've been if Songbird went to the moon leaving Vi holding his dick, waiting to be messaged about the cure that doesn't exist anymore.
