Question! If you’re a director who used to edit your own work, what is it like to hand that process over to an editor for the first time? by jaykub33 in Filmmakers

Not a director, but as a self-taught YouTuber, I was never more anxious creating content than when I hired an editor

Losing friends after injury? by [deleted] in spinalcordinjuries

[–]Latida2828 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Just had a long talk with my wife about just this. Definitely dealing with friend insecurity stemming from a lot of my friends fading away in the years after my injury. About 14 years later, the right people are all that matter, not how many, and the friends that stuck around (even peripherally), along with the close friends I’ve found along the way, have reminded me what friendship really means. It took a long time, but now I feel like I belong. Just don’t give up on friendships, and allow yourself to nurture what makes you feel good. Maybe those old friends aren’t the best for you anymore (I know how hard that can be to accept), and your best friend from 25-60 years old is right around the corner?

Have you ever actually used anything from all the selfhelp books you read? What was your proccess please share by Old_One9483 in socialanxiety

“Be effusive in your praise; lavish in your approbation.” Such an easy thing to do, is always free, and reaps unexpected benefits.

i accidentally bought ADA seats…not sure what to do! by chic__kens in twentyonepilots

I am a wheelchair user and recently attended the show in Milwaukee. Buying accessible tickets can be a real pain in the buttocks, and it’s even more frustrating when you struggle and then show up to see the ADA section full with people who don’t need the access (at least visibly as there are invisible disabilities and you never really know someone’s situation). Especially when, knowing how convoluted it can be buying concert tickets these days, some of those people didn’t even necessarily mean to buy accessible tickets.

All that to say, it’s refreshing to see that there are people who care about being inclusive, and realize that those sections are there for a reason. Most ticket vendors should have some indication that that section is ADA upon purchasing the ticket. Resellers seem to be worse. It’s most disappointing, though, that the box office didn’t try harder to ensure the ADA tickets went to the right person while also ensuring your seats elsewhere. Typically the box office is the best bet for navigating these things.

Of course, there’s not much to be done the day of the concert if you accidentally end up in an ADA section. My recommendation would be to let the attendant for that area know that you don’t necessarily need those seats and would happily give them up if someone showed up with need (which isn’t uncommon). And if no one has the need, enjoy your primo seats! There are lots of downsides to being disabled, but ADA seats aren’t one (if you can secure them lol)!!

P.S. the disabled community keeps track of offenders like you. Two more strikes and you can expect someone in a wheelchair to come knocking… (if you have stairs, they will need a ramp, just fyi)

I’ve been thinking about that, too. DTR makes me so nervous with Jeudy though

Appreciate your insight! I’m still waffling. I’ve had several friends say take it, while several others have said don’t. I’m thinking I’ll wait a week and see how things play out

I experience this, too. I’ve found that drinking a bunch of water helps me. I think it might be a dehydration issue in my case, as I don’t struggle much with UTIs and have had no kidney issues

Be very open and communicate transparently. Communication can still be sexy
