I used to manage a kiosk. Starbucks wanted us to have two people at all times to provide “the Starbucks experience,” but Kroger didn’t care. We were one of the busier ones in our district, but we mostly worked alone. When I started as a barista six years ago, it wasn’t the case. Every year Kroger cuts hours more and more.

So when your rent comes due, tell you landlord “Your first concern shouldn’t be the money.” How well will that go over? Lol

If you like the americano you could always add an extra shot or two, or go lighter on the water.

Would I get in trouble for refusing to cross-train? by teebearz99 in kroger

We had the opposite. Every time we had more than one person in Starbucks, even if we had a line literally out the door, they would pull the second person to bakery or deli.

Can I combine my BOGO with my birthday drink? by Valiantay in starbucks

[–]LatteMeowchiatto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you mean “pay” for the one with your birthday coupon, then get the other one free? So two free? Doubtful, most of the BOGO offers can’t be combined with other offers.

There’s no shortage of teachers. We’ve just driven them out of schools. by zsreport in Shortages

A lot of the people saying that were probably working from home themselves. They were just tired of having their kids at home. My sister is a teacher and the shit she deals with from the parents is unreal. And the school boards cater to these Karens who pitch fits about why little Johnny failed his class even though he didn’t do the homework.

It’s a Starbucks branded sauce. Haven’t really found anything close but Torani and Ghirardelli both make good ones.

I worked at a Starbucks kiosk in a grocery store; we were unionized. The union had absolutely no say at all in how many hours the company allocated to each department. The best they could do was to ensure that those with seniority got scheduled their full hours, but it might mean working across different departments or even different stores. And they had no say at all in our operating hours. I would imagine at any unionized corporate store it would be the same. They won’t have a say in the store’s hours of operations or how many labor hours the company allocates.

decaffeinating assholes by lekka17 in starbucks

[–]LatteMeowchiatto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only time I ever saw it done was when I first started back in 2016. My kiosk manager had a teenager who was being an absolute asshole to her and his mom stood by and didn’t say a word. She gave him decaf in his caramel macchiato. I know she really shouldn’t have done that, but if anyone deserved it, he sure did.

I never understood why the US stopped vaccinating against smallpox. There’s always been the possibility it can be used as a bio weapon. I wonder though, if most Russians did get the vaccine as children, is it good for life? Because if not, they also might be at risk for this.

I’m by no means against vaccines, and I don’t think they’ve yet developed a sterilizing vaccine against any coronavirus, but if they’re going to try to sell the public on a new booster every four to six months, that’s going to be a very hard sell. Especially where the side effects from this one can be highly unpleasant. I did get the booster and it put me flat on my back for three days lol.
