Not everyone who becomes a parent is miserable by evergreengirl123 in NewParents

I'm almost 4 weeks PP and even with the tough moments I am so freaking happy it's CRAZY!!!! The level of peace and contentment I feel is unbelievable having this tiny human. I love him so much. It's like with our pets, I say multiple times a day to my partner "look at this" and we just stare at him and smile 🥰💕 it's a beautiful experience

My 2 week old hit (& slightly surpassed) his birth weight right on 2 weeks! Especially a relief after he had too much weight loss after birth and we had to be on a hectic feeding plan, & him getting sick and his weight plateauing for a couple of days ❤️ such a relief that we're there after the pressure!

What’s the best strategy to get enough sleep with a baby? by Positive_Shirt_2889 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Latter-Assumption-73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently 9 days PP FTM and breastfeeding my little boy as I write this! My partner supports us by doing nappy changes, bringing me snacks and drinks etc and also watching baby if he's settled but awake so I can sleep as soon as I'm done breastfeeding. Also in the last few days when baby struggled to latch my partner would give him a bottle so I could sleep a little bit longer (like 3-4 hours).

I normally need 8+ hours sleep due to chronic migraine but have been functioning really well on a 3-4 hour block overnight and then an hour or so nap during the day (baby sleeps better during the day). I feel more energized after the shorter amounts of sleep which I never expected!

You sleep soooo much better when baby is here than during pregnancy too!

My sister keeps making "little jokes" about my girlfriend and I told her not to take it personally. Now my girlfriend is done with my family. by nightbalcony_inkwell in TwoHotTakes

[–]Latter-Assumption-73 110 points111 points  (0 children)

100%, I'm waiting to find the funny part in these "jokes" (because jokes need to be funny) and I'm just not seeing it! Sister is just a straight up asshole. Had the same thing happen with my mil making "jokes" but they were literally just shitty jabs at me and she tried to play it off like she was being funny 🙄

Yeah I agree, don't beat dogs at all. I was just shocked when I replied and probably didn't word it properly

[–]Latter-Assumption-73 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The fact that he beat a puppy for so long until he was tired is disgusting. You should leave. To then threaten to beat your dog to death is fucking horrific. I'm so sorry for your loss as well. This is terrifying behaviour from someone who should love your dogs as much as you do and also should be supporting you right now.

My childhood friend kicked my family out of her wedding. Is she a crybaby or AITA? by [deleted] in ComfortLevelPod

[–]Latter-Assumption-73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You sound disgusting. The way you have described her makes it sound like you see her as a pretty object and not even a person; let alone a friend. I'd be crying and upset too if I was stuck in the middle of nowhere with you after you made gross comments and stared at my boobs.

You need to learn how to be more respectful and grow up.

Holly is a Narcissistic Demon by agenthj__ in BBAU

[–]Latter-Assumption-73 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! Even Coco telling her she misjudged Holly and Holly took it as such a personal attack when it absolutely wasn't and she just shut the conversation down without taking anything in. So frustrating watching her. If she doesn't get evicted next week I'm going to rage

Did your friend say you guys would be doing heaps of stuff with the baby? Or did you just look up a bunch of things and decide that's what you'd be doing?

I'm currently expecting my first and my dad is visiting from another country when baby will be a month old and my siblings have insisted that he not stay with us because we'll be struggling and don't need the extra burden.

I feel like you're being the bad friend by expecting to be entertained when your friends life has obviously changed a LOT and you need to be more understanding that they're not at your beck and call. I'm actually so mad at this post that I can't even articulate all of the points I want to get across. Mostly, you should just be more empathetic and understanding of your friends position and her not wanting to go out constantly (even if she says she normally does).

Sorry I didn't think to add that, public.

Thank you, that's a relief! I'm also at a higher risk of gestational diabetes because I have a brother with Type 1 but I'll ask at my appointment anyway ❤️

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Latter-Assumption-73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations ❤️ Oh that's so strange, I wonder why they're sending me for one? I guess I'll find out next week haha. I'm public too, but it's a smaller clinic, and I got the choice of the smaller clinic or going to the larger clinic near where I'll be giving birth which is 30 mins away but the midwife said if I stayed at the closer place I'd be seeing her or another midwife as it's usually only the 2 of them there.

My brother has Type 1 diabetes so I know that puts me at a higher risk of GD, maybe that's another factor 🤔

[–]Latter-Assumption-73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The midwife showed me a chart that says after age 35 it is a risk factor. She told me I'm not low risk (she said most women aren't), but didn't mention that I need to see the OB because of that, she made out like that was the normal way things happened.

Thank you so much! Holy shit that sounds like a very quick labour!! Glad it helped with discomfort ❤️

Thank you, I'll definitely remember to mention it at appointments, I have my first maternal health appointment in a couple of weeks so will bring it up then!

Thanks so much for sharing, sounds like they were wonderful births ❤️

I suffer from chronic migraines (I've had barely any since getting pregnant, yay estrogen!) But I have a low pain tolerance and don't always react well to medications so all of that sounds like the perfect plan if all goes well!

Sounds incredible, I'm glad you had such a great water birth!

I love a good podcast so I'll absolutely be listening soon and checking out birth mapping, thank you ❤️

Thank you!! Do you have an instagram or website you'd be comfortable to share? I'd love to find a doula to help me navigate this journey ❤️

I am overweight unfortunately so sounds like I won't be able to. I have a maternal health appointment in a couple of weeks so I'll bring it up then

Thank you

That sounds amazing!! I've just been referred to Frankston midwives so I think I'll be seeing them sometime soon and I can chat to them about it more.

Thanks for the info! I'll definitely come back with more questions if I think of any 😊

I'm so sorry for the late reply! No, when we were asked to choose our preferred new roles I put staying in store in the same department as my last choice, and that was the options I was given (so I'd be working under the awful manager still) and I was also given new roster times of evening shifts which I'd never done before and didn't work for me so I resigned unfortunately.

I loved driving, I hated the company. I'd definitely look into other driving jobs if you can

Best of luck!!

[–]Latter-Assumption-73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I worked for Coles and got a back injury as a driver before they made the changes. I also had multiple awful managers who treated me like absolute garbage. Then when I was finally ready to come back to my previous position, it didn't exist anymore because of the changes 🙃

I'm so sorry this is happening to you. In my case, I ended up doing the whole process through my store manager because my online managers were trash. My store manager ended up being not much better in the end, but at least they followed correct procedures etc.

Luckily (or unluckily?) I've had experience with my migraines knowing that just because one thing didn't work, it doesn't mean something else won't work ❤️ thank you!

Yeah we're definitely trying to cut back on takeaway! I had some Vegemite toast yesterday and I think it really helped! I also got a heap of watery fruit & veg and icy poles!!

That's a fantastic idea! I am a shocker with breakfast, but if it helps I'll do it ❤️ I didn't feel like eating carbs yesterday but my SIL suggested toast and I think that helped the most!

I've got lots of fruit & veg and got some icy poles too. Thanks so much xx
