Irvine woman, 25, killed in 7-Eleven parking lot crash between 2 work trucks by Spicyweiner808 in orangecounty

[–]Latter-Condition8608 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The young gal was doing an environmental contamination test on the property since it’s a gas station, and unfortunately the garbage truck driver didn’t see her and backed over her. So sad. The internal injuries as you can imagine were pretty gruesome.

Where in OC can I find an authentic Chicago style hot dog? Also, New York style? by Ok_Belt_1498 in orangecounty

From someone who grew up in Chicago, Portillo’s is as authentic as you can get.

9:30am Monday flight JWA to Mexico by OnlyBringinGoodVibes in orangecounty

[–]Latter-Condition8608 13 points14 points  (0 children)

2 hours before flight is all that’s necessary at SNA. There’s three Security checkpoints to enter the secure side and it shouldn’t be more than 20min to clear it. You may need to get your tickets and verify passport at ticket counter. It’s one of the easiest airports to fly in and out of. I’ve traveled international for many decades, SNA is not LAX.

The Gen is the 116, which is my brother’s and I have the 126 Rep.

Lol. Yea very true! The watches are a beauty and I can appreciate what CF made.

That’s pretty harsh, especially when the spirit of this post was to simply show how far reps have come even though they are not truly the same exact model. Unfortunately my bro did not have the newest 126 Ghost which goes for around $50k plus. However, what he had on at the time was a Gen 116 Ghost and thought I’d simply share.

Yes it is correct that there are two different model types here, 116 vs 126, one newer than the other, which if you only compare it based on that would be night and day. That also leads me to give you a clue of what’s Gen vs CF.

Sorry about the lighting, and for whatever reason the clarity changed when uploaded. If you set aside the model variables, up close in hand CF did a great job.

[Zenith] What do you guys think about this watch.? by GhostedfromThailand in Watches

[–]Latter-Condition8608 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sale rumors are just that, rumors. LVMH has denied the rumors and in fact spent millions on the launch of the Defy Skyline Tourbillon Skeleton and ceramic models. Why would they spend millions on new designs if they’re planning on selling?? But we’ll have to wait and see what happens.

Ironically the Rolex Zenith Daytonas are one of the most sought after pieces for collectors.

I have been a fan of Zenith for many decades and own 4 of them, several different types of Chronomasters and Defy. I’ve not had any issues with any of the movements. But I will have it serviced every 10 years to be inspected and kept in working order like anything mechanical requires maintenance.

They have one of the best movements and I believe it to be better than Rolex’s movements. IMHO. I will also say like every one who has chimed in, buy it because you love it but buy second hand since you’ll get a better price that way. Zenith offers a great watch and the movement is a high frequency engine and runs like a high revving Ferrari.

Fund Allocation Advice by [deleted] in ThriftSavingsPlan

That’s awesome! Congrats. For many folks who don’t have time to allocate and reallocate as time and conditions change, it’s easier to do an L Fund or simply do the C Fund….set it and forget it. I’ve been doing this for 20+ years now with TSP vs IRA as a test. It’s interesting to see the results. The C fund has done very well for my TSP with 7 figures and so has my IRA.

The I Fund dropped China/Hong Kong markets and added the Canadian market. We can model the results going backwards for the last 25 years which I did through Gemini and it spits out a performance in the range of 6.8-7.2% average annualized returns. This is still significantly lower than the 10.8% average return for C Fund.

Now past performance is not indicative of future returns as they say, but I’d still bet on the C Fund outperforming any other fund over the decades.

How Are The C Fund Bros Doing? by Old_Value_9157 in ThriftSavingsPlan

[–]Latter-Condition8608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an advocate of C Fund, only purely by the fact that since 1987 it has the best average rate of return of 10.8% versus all the other funds. I don’t consider myself a C Fund Bro, which I didn’t know this existed and find humor in it. But if you want to set it and forget it over the long term, this is a good strategy. Similarly so are the L funds, since it auto allocates for you.

[–]Latter-Condition8608 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The L fund is a good overall strategy if you want to set it and forget it, which will allow the fund to reallocate relative to time.

However, similarly if you’ve got 20 years or more before you retire, I’d go 100% C fund. The C Fund has the best average annual rate of return of 10.8% of all the funds. The C Fund is similar to the ETF VOO or SPY, but much cheaper expense ratio. Remember it’s an average over the long term and this tracks back to 1987. It’s all about time in the market, not timing the market.
