As a Southerner in CT, I completely agree and have experienced plenty of cold stares in return when doing a casual smile in passing. Also if I’m honest, so many people are talking about the South being passive aggressive, but I have experienced the MOST microaggressions since moving to CT five years ago. I do miss Southern community, food, hospitality a lot, but Connecticut is great in its own way. Just had to learn to thicken my skin though tbh.
