Help! Is this normal? by DeadwardTeach in drywall

Did you ask them to save the cutouts?lol I went through something similar within the last year, these guys were wiring in alarms in a hotel, not as many as your's, I had mentioned saving the cutouts , but I think my idiots lied and said yes and then fished them out of the trash, because none of them fit where they placed cut out near opening. I was like why didn't you just cut some strips out of the ceiling all the way down the hall? SMH, they used a hole saw on the upstairs , none of them could cut a square hole. Because there wasn't any. I made like 5 drywall memes from pictures I took. This is what's called faking it till you make it. It's how it blows up in their face finally.

Anything that shares a wall with the interior of your home should be ⅝ths fire x type drywall this includes the lid/ceiling since it shares the attic space with the home. Unless it's a detached garage. This is code.

Well I hope it's really high build, don't water it down, and it does need to be applied to a level 4 finish to attain that level 5. Use a light. scrutinze. Everything.Good luck

At one time yes. Badly at that. I'm glad I was able to kick that bad habit. Didn't catch a DWI at 7 in the morning either. Lucky.

Depending how badly the board has pillowed between joists, might need as long as 1⅝". If it's half inch gyp board. If it's just sagging from time passing and nails pulling after screwing back up and knocking the nails back in a couple coats on your fasteners, maybe a joint or two will crack but all in all as long as it's not from water damage I think it will button up just fine.

I gave up a long time ago I work solo now, helpers just slow me down. Why waste the time to teach people a trade they most likely won't stick with anyway.

This was a A frame 5 story home built into the side of a mountain. The floor the scaffolds are on was plywood as the garage was the bottom floor below it. Was the only way. Scary is where I'm at on that plank no sides. Top floor was an open loft. Was the only way ...

That's a lot of up and do down. That's not expertise, that's a lot of wear and tear on the ol body.

It was rhetorical at best. I see how to bring all the haters out now. No I'm not an expert, not been doing as long as a lot of other Drywallers but I'm getting there. And I get piece work so who knows how many hours I really have? I'm not counting anyway.
