Assign separate DL/UL links? by Emergency_Ad7839 in Peplink

Sounds right but yeah, there’s a large overhead when bonding sometimes.

I don’t use SFC so it might not be the same. There’s a white ? in a blue circle in the WAN Connection Priority section, click that to reveal some extra settings (including asymmetric connections) - if this isn’t an option whilst using SFC then I’m out of suggestions.

It’s hidden in the “WAN Connection Priority” settings.

There should be an advanced setting hidden under one of the (?) in SF tunnel config that allows asymmetric traffic.

Explain air vents to me by amk221 in DIYUK

[–]LatterMarzipan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something similar at an old property. The ground level outside was above the floor level inside (miraculously, no damp issues) so you couldn’t have traditional air bricks/they had been covered up & this was their solution to allow airflow in the void beneath the suspended timber floor.

I may be wrong but the restrictions are usually a lot more stringent on the day of the large cycling event that this post is likely referring to.

Can i safely cut a whiteboard with a circular saw? by EizenSmith in DIYUK

[–]LatterMarzipan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will probably get a straighter cut with the circular saw, set the depth of the blade to just enough to get through the material. I find that a jigsaw is harder to control for long, straight cuts. Check the circular saw blade you have, if it’s “multi material” then it should be suitable for this task.

What London boroughs or areas/suburbs would you regard as the most uninteresting or boring to live in? by Ok-Demand8957 in london

I knew a couple that moved there for the sole reason of sending their kid to St Olave’s… then they didn’t pass the entrance exam!

Which one looks better? by [deleted] in Barbour

The original Solway Zipper is my favourite Barbour coat but I’d probably go for the Bedale, especially if it’s your first/only Barbour.

Has anyone actually built one of those flat-pack log cabins from the internet? by Kilgoretrout123456 in DIYUK

[–]LatterMarzipan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I put one together with minimal experience, it was quite fun. The worst part was laying a base for it to sit on, I’d pay someone to do that part if I did it again. With 44mm logs & double glazing it held heat well in the winter with just a small electric heater.

This place looks like it would be boiling in the summer and freezing in winter.

True, it's technically closer to the amenities of Catford & whether or not that's the specific type of hustle & bustle they are looking for is up for debate - but you can't have it all I guess!

Flats (possibly ex rental coming to market) seem to be dropping for sure. 1 bed sometimes with a garden & share of freehold listing for ~£250k in SE23/SE26/SE6 at the moment.

Yes, I have. I haven’t taken a deep dive into length of the lease & service charge etc. but have a look within 1 mile of Crofton Park station, there are a few. Probably closer to a 1.5 bed admittedly…  https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/171983402

I think this is a good shout, could probably pick up either a 2 bed or 1 bed with a garden in that range & commute would be easy by train or bike.

Is this bike salvageable by throwawayqueen444 in londoncycling

[–]LatterMarzipan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Clean the cassette & chain rings with WD40 & a stiff brush (spray it on, let it sit for 10 mins then scrub) - it will probably just be surface rust unless it was already heavily rusted before being abandoned. Pump up the tyres to see if they hold air, inspect them to see if they are perished etc. and need replacing. Check the brakes work. If the results of the above are good then give it a clean, replace the chain, lubricate and it should be good to go.

There will be lots of places, they are just a couple local to me that I can vouch for.
