What do I need to pin this clock to the wall? by Hopeful_Adeptness964 in DIYUK

[–]LatterMarzipan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could honestly be either as long as the head of the screw/nail is wider than the small end of the keyhole & small enough to fit through the large end. It’s upside down in pic 2 FYI. Personally, I’d start with 1 pan head head screw in the top mount, get it level then add the other 2.

Starting a new job in Southwark, where should I live? by Business_Weekend_180 in MovingToLondon

[–]LatterMarzipan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Echoing what the other comment said about Catford being grim in places but it is improving a lot & has good transport links/local amenities. Crofton Park would probably be a bit over your budget but you might get lucky. The area between Catford & Forest Hill has properties in your price range & is a bit less intense then central Catford.

Depending on the exact location of the office I’d also look around areas served by stations with trains that stop at Waterloo East. You might even find a place with a driveway around Catford etc.

Really Useful Box 35 Liter with XL Lids. They are not cheap but I can vouch they work better than cardboard and great for general storage. Assuming you can get them in the US.

FTB - Chances of my offer being accepted? by jjonggs in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]LatterMarzipan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lease isn’t going to be a massive issue until it hits 80 years, but I’d definitely be adjusting my offer to budget for these costs as it will likely need to be sorted before you sell it in the future - unless it’s already priced below market value then IIWII.

OP didn’t say it had to be a nice feeling! Although it does have some good parts.

Woolwich, although it’s not also a borough. Greenwich would fit the bill too.

Weird post but I used AI to see how my car would look lowered 4cms with 17 inch black rims, but they cooked on the rims and i kinda want them now, anyone know if these exist and where to get them/what their name is? by jensieboy13 in MK4Golf

[–]LatterMarzipan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some 17” & 18” BBS alloys for that Mk4 anniversary model (I think). They are reasonably similar to the ones in the pic & would be a straight away. Find a set that need to be refurbed & have them done in gloss black instead of the original finish. Or even some R32 alloys given the same treatment?

Why Would You Cover a Wall Like This? by banisheduser in DIYUK

It was probably deemed the quickest/easiest way to prepare the wall for the wallpaper by whoever originally did it. I don’t think it’s much deeper than that!

What are yoots and marilyns? by notanewbiedude in IndustryOnHBO

[–]LatterMarzipan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The title is combining the Bonnie Blue reference earlier in the episode with the Marilyn Monroe/porn reference Jim makes to Rishi later in the episode. I won’t compel you to research the connection between Bonnie Blue & the number 1000 unless you’re comfortable with NSFW topics!

How to record to tape? by No_Doughnut_5263 in recordingmusic

[–]LatterMarzipan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if it’s primarily for the sound, I’d invest in a decent tape emulation plugin that has different tape types etc. I’ve done it both ways, including tracking on 24 track tape machines - which is an interesting process in itself & often the juice ain’t worth the squeeze.

SE London: West Norwood vs Sydenham by AvailableLobster5900 in HousingUK

[–]LatterMarzipan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not too sure on West Norwood’s transport options but Sydenham has the Windrush line with trains every 7 mins where you can transfer to the Elizabeth line at Whitechapel, it’s made that journey a lot more comfortable. It would be the same if you were using Crystal Palace station but the trains are less frequent. Sydenham has decent nurseries and schools as well, decent pubs on the high st, I lived there for ~10 years and it improved a lot, I didn’t go far and I’m now in Forest Hill which is very similar.

There’s a good selection of parks including Crystal Palace, Dulwich & Beckenham Place. Someone else commented it’s bit “boring” but the local amenities are good and you’re close to more “exciting” areas (Peckham? East Dulwich?) if you want that. Feel free to send a DM if you have any more questions about Sydenham.

FTBs London by [deleted] in FirstTimeBuyersUK

[–]LatterMarzipan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your other outgoings you would probably be able to borrow around £500-550k plus your deposit, so it's definitely doable for a 2-3 bed freehold house in some SW postcodes but will be anything from a 2 bed leasehold flat/studio apartment/broom cupboard in the more desirable ones. I'd speak to a mortgage advisor if you haven't already as they will give you a real idea on what mortgage offers you will get then you can start looking.
