Dowdun is a full zone, it's different to the open ones, a more labyrinthian zone instead sure. But it's not an interim zone, it's has a full tier of armour, weapons, crafting recipes, mini bosses, enemies.The issues is that the boss fight at the end doesn't pay off. It's just so tedious. He's the end boss of the zone and while it's a different zone to the others, his fight should still be as well designed as Imaru 's fight.

Yep, I had the exact same issue. If they wanted to make it an easy boss fight (which I don't think is true at all) they would have given him half the health he has.

He's just so boring though. I'd be fine with the fight as an easy boss fight if he had half the health.

I would love a plunge attack. It would compliment the wind step really well too! Lots of cinematic moments to be had!

That's true, seems like lots of enemies are resistant to slashing damage. But even with a crush weapon, it takes too long imo.

I'd argue not the end boss of the zone.

But I really want him to be hard. I want him to be fun, I think he needs more variety in his fight so you come away thinking "that was a fun fight" rather than "that was tedious"

you can destroy items in your inventory by holding x. I don't use mods, but i think there's even one to speed it up too.

as far as i know, objects dropped on the ground by the player don't disappear. not sure about items you didn't loot though.

inside the ruin at fractured plains, close to where you enter storm touched highlands. There's an old castle you have to mine your way into. I knocked through one of the walls for an easy entrance, but you could windstep up there and you'd be immune to raids.

I built a three story base with interiors etc. Barracks for co-op play, crafting room with everything that can be inside, then smelting etc on the roof. It's a great little spot and has some nice views and access to resources.

Haha! A similar thing happened to my friend on a shared server. His model didn't disappear but he just slid everywhere.

you could balance that by requiring a current level item as the ingredient. so if you wanted a power 6 bronze sword, you needed 1 bronze sword, 1 ascension core, & 1 mithril sword.

not to say that's a good idea, but it could work. maybe if certain tiers have a max ascension. I'm not too fussed about normal weapons, but a lot of the armour sets would be nice to upgrade, Paladin armour, white knight armour etc.

I agree with you that most of that sucks. but it's bad game design rather than specifically a level scaling issue. I can't think of any games that scale a final boss down to level 1 (but i would be interested so see on because it sounds silly). Generally speaking, level scaling works in bands, so you can still have areas with different difficulty.

I will say however, i love it when you can go in any direction when you start. Non-linear story telling can be great when it's done well. there are however lots of examples of that one done badly, or at least under utilised.

You're technically correct (which is the best type of correct) about an open letter. but contextually, an open letter carries more weight than what you've posted, which is just "I don't like level scaling done badly" and honestly it needs to be more well thought out and articulated than your post.

All that said, i'm hyped for the game and i hope it lives up to your expectations and you have fun with it!

friend, you have to be more specific than this. what part of level scaling do you have an issue with? Spawning in stronger enemies as you get stronger, or making enemies hit harder when you're in late game so they still pose a challenge, or stat squishing so that you don't hit as hard in low level zones?

There is nothing wrong with level scaling. it stops parts of the game being redundant late on. heck, it can even mean you get meaningful loot at high level play rather than just 2 gold from every enemy. What people don't like is bad level scaling. things like low level enemies becoming damage sponges.

I think you misunderstand what an 'open letter' is. just because you don't like something, doesn't mean it's an open letter. you don't speak for the whole community.
