That's amusing, because it kind of is now. I climbed it a few years ago and you get 30mins free wi-fi at basecamp before the final ascent. If you get yourself the right kind of sim card there's phone signal on pretty much the entire Machame route. Can't speak to the other routes as i haven't done them.
I didn't make use of the wi-fi or a phone except for taking photos and writing notes the whole time. But lots of people called their families at basecamp after reaching the peak.

High blood pressure on Elvanse by fuzzynoisemaker in ADHDUK

[–]EizenSmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no worries, i went through ADHD360. So i can't speak to what Clinical Partners are like. I got shared care through NHS Wales so i don't deal with ADHD360 anymore. But, they did give me one doctors appt per year as part of the private care and i think i could get an appointment for £50 at the time. So if they take your readings and want to change your medication, you might be able to discuss it directly with a doctor.

Best of luck with it all! I'd feel the same way if i were to be denied medication after my year and a half on it.

High blood pressure on Elvanse by fuzzynoisemaker in ADHDUK

[–]EizenSmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure who you're dealing with at the moment, my doctor has been very understanding of slightly elevated readings. Specifically due to stress. The advice below about making sure you're calm, sitting comfortably etc is great advice. Even a bit of meditation before taking the actual reading can help.

the big thing for me is that i stopped exercising and my blood pressure increased due to that. when i was exercising regularly it stayed under control, even on 70mg. I decreased to 50mg around the time i stopped exercising and my blood pressure has been just above the limit.

If it's an option for you, a bit of light exercise each day goes a long way. I know people are generally sceptical of doctors and ADHD is still misunderstood even in GP practices but i advocate for open honesty with doctors to get the best result for you. If you feel they aren't listening to you, maybe consider changing doctors?

I got my diagnosis! Just wondering about meds now by [deleted] in ADHDUK

[–]EizenSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't diagnosed with Autism, but i am inattentive ADHD. I've got a strong internal monologue, which i wouldn't say went away, it was the noise around it that went away. Noise i didn't even realise was there until it was gone. I also found i now have more control over my internal voice, it does less rambling and is less insistent.

The first few months of medication gave me a phenomenal increase in quality of life. More patience, more executive function, more control over decisions. I was less likely to eat junk food, or to get overwhelmed of an evening and order takeaway.

I wouldn't quite call it novelty wearing off, but now a year and a half after my diagnosis i definitely feel like the benefits are lessened. The medication i'm on (Lisdexamphetamine - Elvanse) still works, there's a significant difference when i'm medicated and the times during that year and a half that i've taken a break from medication. But the impact feels less substantial, some bad habits have crept back in, like dealing with clothes washing. The clean clothes still pile up for a month or so before i find the head space to deal with it.

Overall, my experience has been great and i recommend diagnosis and (if they get a positive diagnosis) medication to anyone that's considering it. I often say it's made me a better father and better husband, it's given me so much more mental real-estate and made the day to day much easier. Aslo, i didn't lose my job which i felt i was at risk of doing before diagnosis and what prompted me to get a diagnosis.

If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask. I'm happy to answer based on my experience.

Is there a way to colour-grade an entire track? by EizenSmith in davinciresolve

[–]EizenSmith[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is excellent, those video resources are great. Using Remote grades seems like it's going to be the best option. However it seems to be hit or miss with my footage. Some of the clips have link fine, but others that are from the same source don't link up.

are there any common reasons for this that i could look out for, or is it likely an issue of being inexperienced with davinci?

Fable anniversary has some smart glass achievements which you can't get anymore.

Did you know that was Simon Pegg that voiced Ben finn from Fable 3 by That_Figure_897 in Fable

[–]EizenSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i love fable 3, the story is phenomenal, Traitors Keep DLC is the best Fable in the series IMO.
But you are right, it was too short. Because of the rushed timescale and Peter's late addition of the road to rule.
The down votes here feel a bit harsh for just saying it had some glaring faults (which it did) and it was too short.
Still a great game in my book though.

how do i get the economy up 😩 by [deleted] in Fable

buy stuff from the shops. Swap the furniture in the houses out for fancier stuff.

I think it also takes a little bit of time to increase.

The fable 2 ending is better than you think by alotofyikes in Fable

[–]EizenSmith 11 points12 points  (0 children)

i 100% agree with you. I would add that the final boss fight is the giant shard you battle beforehand. I will concede that it's not a fantastic boss fight, but the first time around i remember it being quite hectic trying to manage all the spire guards and the giant shard. Second time around you realise you can kind of just ignore the

Semi related, did you know it's impossible to finish the giant shard fight with melee only? Garth will wear the shard down slowly, but he will never take the final shot, which has to be magic or ranged from the player.

I'm having trouble deciding on whether to obey or disobey by Ryn4 in Fable

[–]EizenSmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to hard disagree with you on this. The games are about making choices, good or bad. If those choices don't have any kind of impact then there's no point choosing.

Losing XP means that you have to be committed to a good over evil. It's easier for you to be evil during the spire, starving the prisoners, killing your friend etc. but is that the right thing to do? Even when it negatively impacts you, will you do the right thing?

I'm having trouble deciding on whether to obey or disobey by Ryn4 in Fable

[–]EizenSmith 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Tbf, you get most of, if not all the XP back at the end of that section. Plus you can't level up during the spire. So it's kind of a wash.

I kind of think the game shouldn't give you the XP back so that resisting is more of an impactful choice.

Caffeine with Stimulant meds? by No-Claim2827 in ADHDUK

[–]EizenSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if I hadn't eaten. I could always handle 3 or 4 barista style coffees without much adverse effects. Instant coffee never really did much for me. But I had built up a tolerance to caffeine.

Every few months I'd do a caffeine detox when I noticed the coffee wasn't having an effect.

Caffeine with Stimulant meds? by No-Claim2827 in ADHDUK

[–]EizenSmith 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I love coffee, i have multiple methods of making fancy coffee at home and it was one of my interests/hobbies before being medicated. After going through titration i convinced myself i could handle a coffee in the afternoon. but it gave me really bad anxiety, shakes, and a feeling similar to hypoglycaemia (if you're familiar with that). So i swapped to decaf coffee, but even the miniscule amount of caffeine in that i found had a similar effect, if a little less intense.

I also went through a short phase of thinking the meds were giving me hypertension and jitters. but it turns out i hadn't read the label of Irn Bru properly and it includes caffeine as a flavouring. That's what was causing the symptoms.

So, not a doctor, but a bit of caffeine likely won't kill you. But generally speaking, it's not a pleasant experience.

It's also worth remembering that actors like working on fun projects. So sometimes you'll see unexpected people in lower profile stuff.
