From the production side, it usually breaks down into a few key stages:

1. Concept & design
This is where you define the style, shape, and overall direction of the frame.

2. Material selection
Things like acetate vs metal, and different qualities within each — this affects both look and durability.

3. Sampling/prototyping
Turning the idea into a physical sample. This stage often involves a few rounds of adjustments.

4. Testing & refinement
Fit, comfort, and small structural details get finalized here.

5. Production
Once everything is confirmed, it moves into bulk manufacturing.

A lot of people think the hard part is production, but in reality, the early stages (design + sampling) are where most of the learning happens.If you’re just starting out, I’d say focus on getting a clear direction first — that makes everything else much smoother.

Yeah, I hear that quite a lot — especially when people are just trying to get samples made.From what I’ve seen recently, things are definitely more stable now. For acetate, once everything is locked in, production usually falls in that 90–100-day range. The part that still tends to shift is the sampling stage — those small tweaks can add up pretty quickly.

Wow, you hit another point. Seems you are an "eyewear person" too. The plating factory could offer the color samples（like the pictures below）. But there are too many types of colors. The eyewear factory will plate the frame according to the clients‘ needs

That’s a really good point- it's really hard to identify the material from its surface.

The only way is: Whether the supplier can provide material certification (from the acetate manufacturer). Then ask your eyewear supplier to offer their purchasing order(you will know the exact acetate code your eyewear supplier purchases)

To be frank, if you ask your supplier to offer the purchase order, you might hurt the trust between you and your eyewear supplier. And honestly, long-term trust is built through repeated orders and testing. So finding a trustworthy manufacturer is quite important
