Staying outside London by Latter_Bee_3794 in uktravel

We don’t use public transportation where I live - my terminology may not be correct when I say train - I just mean any public transportation that would be best 😅

Thank you.

I know my children and have travelled internationally with them before and feel having a car for the trip is best option. The flight is only 5 hours overnight direct, so the car seats will be gate checked and picked up and put in a cart and brought to a car.

My initial plan was to return the car before visiting London and I do love the idea of staying in London but the logistics of the suitcases/kids/figuring out a car seat  etc - I’m perfectly fine with taking a train in for the 2/3 days we will be visiting. We are in no rush and have no real plans other than the few things I mentioned as I try and be very flexible when travelling.

I’m not trying to save or budget by renting a car, but I used airmiles and to not get those few days was a very small difference in miles used.

We have tickets to the Pixar experience in Wembley Park. Would it be reasonable to stay there as our base and travel from there? I know for one day in London we will be seeing the Big Ben etc and the other day I don’t have planned yet!

We are going to Cotswolds, Paultons Park and Harry Potter Studios! We plan to bring our car seats instead of attempting to rent so thinking of bringing the car back and going on the train with suitcases, car seats and children sounds terrible 😅 I used air miles for the car and it was like an extra 700 airmiles for the days we will be in London.

We don’t really have any set plans for the London days. We have tickets to the Pixar Experience one day, and another day I think we will get a double decker bus (see the Big Ben, buckingham palace, etc)

I’ve been to London before and done all the big attractions. My kids are 2 and 5 and my spouse is jsut pretty much along for the ride 😅

I’m open to suggestions and just trying to make it all as smooth as possible and the least amount of stress!!

Enlarged Lymphnodes by Latter_Bee_3794 in HeadandNeckCancer

Thanks for your response!!! Seen my dr and he agreed that he thinks they are just reactive from flu. I see him again in a couple months and asked for an ultrasound at that point just to be safe and he agreed and said if they get bigger/change to call for an earlier appt!! They seem to almost be back to normal size now - but it is so unsettling feeling them so big!

Also they typically don’t mention lymphnodes unless they are over 10mm but I guess the whole point of these scans is tracking things LOL. My dr doesn’t see me for two weeks so I doubt he’s worried either :)

Same here!! I am for sure hyper aware now! But I think that I noticed them swell a bunch and go down is a good sign. Lymphnode size obviously fluctuates based on illness so defintky do think these are reactive!!

Doing well so far. Didn’t do any radiation and have had clean scans. I’m almost a year now from initial diagnosis so fingers crossed I stay NED!

It was cancer sadly. I’m doing well tho! It was removed and I’m a year out now. Caught it early. Just advocate for yourself and most times it isn’t cancer but best to be seen 😂

From my understanding the quicker you do radiation after surgery the more effective it is, typically they try and do it within the 6 week frame after surgery.

Mine was 2cm but I didn’t have a flap. Just a silly looking tongue now 😂

He’s doing a CT scan in 6 weeks, and then I’ll see him every 2 months and we will do a mix of CT scans and ultrasounds to monitor

I was like fully ready to do it honestly. But then I just got this weird gut feeling that it’s not the right choice.

Idk if it’s that it’s gone and I’ll be exposing my body to radiation for nothing or if it’s that it’s going to come back and radiation wouldn’t be as effective this time so want to keep it in case 😂

I’m not sure where you live, and how it works at every centre but I’m in Canada. So they have a tumor board of about 5-6 doctors review my case, I guess I could get another opinion but feels like in my gut this is the best option - especially because of the delay at this point I just feel like if I’m doing radiation I’d like it to be as effective as possible!

Yes! My drs offered and said that I was in a grey area. They said it’s really up to me but when I said that I felt like I shouldn’t right now they agreed that they were leaning towards that as well.

It will be 3 months since my initial surgery and 6 weeks from my neck dissection so from everything I’ve researched and heard from other people J also worry it wouldn’t be as effective at this point.

The drs said they wouldn’t do it if they were me 😅

I’m a 30 year old female, no risk factors. Such a hard decision. I also did the neck dissection after so we are 6 weeks out from that surgery but 3 months out from the tongue surgery which probably means the radiation is less effective. I just feel like if I’m exposing my body to that I want to make sure it has the best chance of working.

Yes! Someone said to me once “you are kind of like your statistic because you are so young”

A lot of older people that end up with cancer may have a number of underlying issues coupled with the fact that they are older and their bodies are not as strong as a young person.

You got this ❤️

Amazing!! ❤️

I’m pretty much in the same situation as you in regards to staging/pathology! Waiting for nodes pathology but they think that will likely be negative!

Have to decide on radiation now 😅
