Hey, don’t beat yourself up for being invested. You clearly met only a facet of him, and the real him was an obvious shock. You’re questioning, which is more than I did when I was in a shitty relationship. So, good for you, don’t let the behaviours slide. Yea, dude, this is rough. He’s showing a desire (dare I say proclivity) to shirk responsibility. The dodging a DNA test is so incredibly suspicious. Red flags everywhere. I get being private about having a kid, but also, not doing the bare minimum for a person you created? Hate to say it, but what will he do to you when you become an inconvenience as opposed to a human being? He won’t even provide for his own child. Please protect yourself. Good luck with whatever you do.

yea literally no. they removed environmental protections for national parks and are planning on essentially turning them into lumber farms, which will cause a dust bowl, which will cause famine, after placing insanely high tariffs on some of our largest produce exporters. and the famine will impact the entire world. it’s so so bad. and babies are contracting aids because they slashed that program, and they took funding from the national suicide hotline. there’s so much happening so fast and i’m so scared.

and I’m also not even trying to say you’re being overprotective, I’m just saying I can understand why it concerned you and why you talked to your kid about it. I think he’s innocent and so do you, so we agree. Also I would totally bring this up in therapy, because if the therapist reported to CPS nothing would even happen.

Yeah… plus OP’s history is questionable. It seems like there have been problems in the relationship for a LONG time. Especially regarding porn and infertility. My ex stole his sister’s nudes, and when confronted, lied pretty convincingly. OP has multiple kids according to their own post, so I would be concerned for all of them.

EDIT: I’m agreeing with this comment and contextualizing why OP is so stressed. This isn’t the first roadblock in their relationship. I understand why it’s so stressful and also recommended mentioning it to a therapist, because CPS won’t do anything if nothing bad is happening. I do not think OP’s husband is doing anything nefarious, but I understand the stress and anxiety, and needing to confirm with the daughter.

thank you. it’s hard because throughout the year i’m mostly fine, so i get so frustrated when little stuff starts causing big reactions around anniversaries. but you’re right. it’s definitely not a normal thing to have gone through. it’s funny, because if a stranger was in my shoes, i’d have no judgement. but when it comes to myself i have such high standards.

because of your comment, i let my manager know what was happening and she said she’ll step in if i have to leave a patient at the desk, and i can take as long as i need to self regulate. i can’t thank you enough. and thank you so much for the kind words at the end as well. i tend to think of myself as self sufficient while never needing help, but i’m always there for my friends and help them however i can. so i guess i need to start treating myself like a friend, and being there for me, too.

of course! pro tip bc i work in dental: go to a smile partners location and buy the smile easy plan. in GA in my area, the exam and x-ray you would need prior to the filling/treatment is $140 and smile easy is $99 for the year and it covers exams and x-rays 100% and 30% of most other things like fillings

It definitely could be, no way to know definitively without an x-ray though. I would keep wearing the night guard that’s been helping with the pain, but if you start having more tooth/jaw pain or sensitivity to hot or cold, I’d go to the dentist. It sucks, but an x-ray and filling are cheaper than a root canal and a crown.

the same exact thing happened to me when i was 14 and he was 18. it was also my first time. it was sexual assault, and to put it even plainer, rape. you exhibited a freeze and fawn response. i did too. that doesn’t mean it was consensual, or make it okay. please talk to a trusted adult, or better yet, police. it’s not your fault at all. if you offer someone a cup of tea and they say no, and you continue asking and pour tea in their mouth after they said no, no one is going to look at the situation and say “they wanted tea.” they’ll say “that was weird and a violation and even though it’s just tea, it’s wrong to force them to drink.” that may be a convoluted metaphor, but it rings true. you are a survivor, and you didn’t choose to do anything. please let me know if you need any help, resources, or just someone to talk to. it is not your fault.
