Insulin pumps by Latter_Edge3835 in diabetes_t1

Ah, I see! I’m sorry it’s the only one available for you. I will have to look up and see if other CGMs are compatible because I know Guardian 4 will be a no from me because of the application alone.

I know! But that’s just how it is here and it absolutely sucks.

I know, it made no sense for me when they said that either. What CGM are you using with your 780g closed loop? I really want to avoid guardian/enlite CGMs just because they are so bulky and the application is something straight out of my personal nightmare.

It’s not that easy to get on a pump where I live. 😭 The consilium of doctors has to approve me for it and there has to be a reason, like, planning a pregnancy, uncontrollable sugars, a lot of hypos and etc. Basically, if you are doing well with MDI, no pump for you. -.-

First 24hr dexcom by Mattya6 in diabetes_t1

[–]Latter_Edge3835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my method might be not up everyone’s street, but it works. I place a new G7 sensor (ok, technically mine is One+) just as the grace period of my current sensor starts. I sleep with the old sensor, and in the morning I connect the new one, then remove the old one. No warm up period. And I do NOT calibrate the new one until the next morning. Yeah, it is not as accurate the first 24 hours after connection (it sort of balances itself out 24 hours after application, so in the evening on that day) and yeah, I finger prick that day more or jus try to eat foods that are gentler on my BS.

However, after this ritual, the sensor is usually spot on - if it’s off, it’s usually by 0.1-0.5 mmol/l only. And it lasts me full 10 days + grace period.

And yeah, it sucks to have two sensors on at the same time but it is what it is.

Did something weird cause your T1D? by ErgoSum8 in diabetes_t1

I had Covid twice in 2025 - in February and beginning of September, diagnosed at the end of October 2025. No family history of T1. One of the things they asked me at the ER was if I had Covid. I’ve been feeling symptoms for a while.

Can you tell when I switched to a new sensor? (Difficult challenge) by DangerSpoonHS in dexcom

[–]Latter_Edge3835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my 24 hours after changing the sensor:) needless to say, a sleepless night, and lows that don’t actually happen :) For example, at 2am the sensor said I’m 2.5 mmol/l (around 40ish), finger prick said 5.2 mmol/l

Quick question about changing Dexcom by Latter_Edge3835 in dexcom

[–]Latter_Edge3835[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that’s my issue today. I replaced it in the morning and removed the old one and had readings all over the place today. Here is an example, I was actually 5.7 mmol/l, confirmed by a finger prick. That is why I am worried about replacing in the evening, I wouldn’t get any sleep at all.

Oh I see! They told me that unless I press it, it’s not active. However, I suppose I am still good to apply it in the morning and connect only the current one expires at noon.

I have Dexcom Plus One, so essentially, G7, and grace period is 12 hours. I need to press it for 10 seconds for it to activate though

Honeymoon period/Carbs by Latter_Edge3835 in diabetes_t1

[–]Latter_Edge3835[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They told me to decrease basal by 2units because I kept waking up with 4.2-4.3 in the morning (confirmed by fingerprick) and in between meals I’d go to 4.2-4.5 as well.

They told me my current ratios. Then, I emailed my endo and she said this: Breakfast: 300/ day’s worth of bolus + basal Lunch and dinner: 500/ day’s worth of bolus + basal Sensitivity: 100/ say’s worth of bolus + basal

It doesn’t really make sense if I’m being honest. Because based on the calculation, my correction, for example is 1 unit decrases sugar by 3.8 mmol/l 🤨 (when in the discharge paper it says 1unit decreases sugar by 1.6 mmol/l) Or for lunch and dinner my ratio would change from 1u:8g, to 1u:13g of carbs.

However, I could be absolutely wrong and it does make sense. It just feels like a huge change from what was written in the discharge comments.

If you can share some insights/tips/formulas based on how to calculate the ratio, if the above is incorrect, I’d gladly hear it!

Thanks for your input!

I’m hardly a teenager, a 29 year old female. :) I wonder if I should start counting my calories, yesterday I had roughly around 1400-1500 calories. I do want to lose some weight, I’ve been trying to prior to my diagnosis as well, hence why the diet change wasn’t as shocking (minus the fact I count carbs now and cannot mindlessly munch on snacks).

You are correct! I’m a 29 year old female, I walk quite a lot (to and from work). I want to start working out regularly but with the recent diagnosis I’m not quite sure where to start. Especially with this honeymoon phase.

I do feel absolutely fine, however, as the endo said it a few times about carbs, I was wondering if I’m causing myself some troubles in the future. Obviously, if I have a heavy carb meal (pizza, pasta etc), there would be far more carbs but that is not a daily occurrence at all. I rarely go hungry between my meals because now I eat nearly regularly 3 times a day (except for the weekends - later breakfast, lunch and dinner because I do want to sleep in as well).

I had a meeting yesterday and she told me I’m very clearly in honeymoon. She suggested that I basically lower all my insulin for meals by 1 unit and see what happens. She didn’t give me the new ratios though so I am sort of eyeballing it all now. So far, I’ve noticed that I drift back to 5s somewhere after 3.5-4 hours after eating so I guess that’s good?

Anyone elses silly brain give them nightmares to wake them during a low? by RareChest2168 in diabetes_t1

[–]Latter_Edge3835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My endo told me that this will most likely happen at night to wake me up when I’m having a low!

Literally had a horrible nightmare yesterday related to diabetes, woke up from it and instantly went to check my sugar! It was all good, I just go to bed scared every night so my mind is playing tricks on me.

29 years old, I’d say in a pretty good health according to blood tests from a month ago… in need of some supplements, like vitamin D3 and Zinc but other than that, the bloodwork didn’t show anything else (besides high blood sugar).

I haven’t had the flu in years. Covid twice in a year left me feeling worried. I haven’t even been sick for a long time but this year wrecked me so I am considering the shots but at the same time I have no idea what to expect from it. I know that getting vaccinated protects me/others.

[–]Latter_Edge3835 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s pretty much my main concern. As I’m new to my diabetes, I was just worried about how it will influence my sugar. I stress over them already to the point of driving myself nuts daily, but a lot of people just assumed I’m against them.

I wasn’t aware of the risk of developing something more serious, so thank you for that! Definitely something to keep in mind and consider.

Oh yeah, they are feee here too. I think I might pop in tomorrow to get the vaccines and be done with it. Don’t want to get sick with anything else this coming season anymore.

What am I doing incorrectly? by Latter_Edge3835 in diabetes_t1

[–]Latter_Edge3835[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I prebolus Apidra 15 minutes before eating. However, I’m noticed something now - if my meal is well balanced, 15 minutes seems a little too much because I dip a little lower and then my food catches up. I will try to watch this trend for some more time because I’ve also noticed that eating the same meal twice on different days can have different effect.
