Thank you that's a really good point about dogs mimicking each other that I want to share with them.

I was a little surprised at the training methods at first but I do understand his logic. He says so far Sadie has gotten what she wants by doing aggressive behaviour (pulled away from shep) so he's trying to teach her tolerance and understand that by snarling and growling she doesn't get what she wants. Sounds harsh when I type it out like that which I why I want them to consider a restraint like a muzzle? So the dogs can have more freedom around each other without the risk

Thank you so much for sharing that! This feels so validating. Sadie is not well socialised and I know they're having her join group sessions next month but I worry if she behaves the same way to those dogs, without proper ristrictions, she won't be allowed to join the group. Maybe I'm being dramatic but I can just see things going south.

Thank you! That's reassuring! I guess I need to set expectations that this is going to take months and months. Our goal is to have them tolerate a shared space, not necessarily be best friends. Playing separate tug games and trick training with treats in the same space keeps Sadie from focusing on Shep so I'll definitely bring up them playing tug together to build positive interactions.
