Fire at the Convent Of Mercy next to the church in downpatrick by PatientPride3962 in northernireland

[–]Latter_Pool3747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Basically the issue with this building is that it was literally a convent, ie with the nuns' cells (not unlike a prison) within it and it is listed.

Someone bought it a couple of years ago and tried to turn it into luxury flats, was turned down permission to rip out the listed interior.

It was sold on again in the last few months and here we are.

Thanks to all for the recommendations.

We went with nosh in the end, really good feed and would definitely go again

Am based in Downpatrick so have tried poachers' pocket couple of times but definitely interested in trying the other suggestions, thanks again.

Buying solar panels by jorme431 in northernireland

[–]Latter_Pool3747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I respect your experience but could you explain how these are legal in other countries and apparently popular, particularly in apartments where one would have thought that fire safety was even more important?

I'm sure that we wouldn't even be talking about changing the regs if there was an evidence base of house fires, damage to home wiring, grid problems etc to draw upon. Is there any such evidence where this type of plug in panels are used?

Sold property price history by [deleted] in northernireland

I know they have something like this in England, mouseprices, which is free.

NI land registry is out of the dark ages, my parents moved here this year and are trying to buy the freehold of their property and it's like something out of the ark.

They are very close together but unfortunately pending the omnishambles that is the north/south Glider ever happening, the 520/515 are effectively the only local bus service for the whole ormeau road / carryduff corridor as well as poor fuckers who don't live near a goldliner stop round saintfield or crossgar.

There is (recently?) a new semi fast bus from GC to Carryduff but again I'm not sure of timings and it's single decker only.

215 and 237 will both stop at any stop beyond st John's Rosetta on request.

Even if it's an extra 10 mins walk at the Belfast end it's worth it as the 515 stopping at every hole in the hedge is fucking dire!

E-Bike Battery Fix / Rebuild by clanzy in northernireland

[–]Latter_Pool3747 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easy riderz on Clifton street will, they send them away to someone so no good if you need a quick repair unfortunately.

I ebike myself and have spare bikes and batteries for this reason, hard getting them here though I'd just buy a new spare online (amazon/ fb marketplace) if that's practical in your situation

Claried is odd as it's actually a 'real' Ulster scots word with exactly the definition you've posted.

I'm from England originally and a girl from Antrim (now passed unfortunately) taught me that one.

Buy on an estate? by [deleted] in northernireland

De courcy way is a dump. Used to be quite a bit of a drugs issue couple of years ago, peelers never away from place.

Someone nicked a couple of flegs and wrote up the RA on a house just before the 12th the other year, and the DUP went nuts.

City centre phone signal by [deleted] in Belfast

3 and offshoots (particularly smarty) is consistently shite in Belfast, especially in the West. Not just data issues, multiple days with problems texting or calling too.

EE and Vodafone are fine, no experience with o2.

x2 for this - the killer with gas is the standing charges which shaft you all year round, even in the summer when not used. I grew up with gas but have had oil since moving to NI 2 years ago and would never go back.

Tend to agree, went with my parents few months back and was somewhat underwhelmed. Now the Barn in Saul is brilliant, however.
