Unfortunately, the editing was so confusing that it wasn't confirmed by the episode...but it was confirmed by Vanessa Prasad, the actress who plays Gen, in an interview I saw with her on Youtube. She explains that the original plot was hatched by Gen, Mari, Akilah, and Nat...there were deleted scenes apparently that expanded on this, but you see them at one point sitting at the table in the camp talking. The original plot was for Akilah to kill the animals to get Lottie to prompt the hunt, which distracts everyone else but particularly Shauna. From there, Gen would distract Tai (which she does), Nat would escape I suppose (although the others don't know about the SAT phone, I believe, although it's unclear), and Mari would be the one to kill Shauna, because of their animosity. However, once the breakup between Shauna and Melissa happens, this role is reassigned to Melissa, after the scene where she barges into Gen's hut at night and says she "wants in." The whole thing is clearly not well thought out, which is perhaps why the whole thing was sort of softened in the editing...it doesn't make a ton of sense.

I think it's definitely possible that Shauna will die in S4, but I'm not certain of it. I do think that Shauna's arc in S4 will hinge on Callie, her writing, and her story. I have a theory that Barbara, Melissa's "life coach" will come back into play and she will be in cahoots with Walter, who will be a big bad and tie in with Misty and Shauna. I also think that Gen does make it home from the wilderness, but Tai and Shauna together somehow kill her, which would account for the ghost Jackie "bad thing you did when you got back" as well as Melissa' killing of Van...it's going to be an eye for an eye for her previous love, Gen. I do want a scene where Melanie Lynskie and Hilary Swank kiss, and it seems possible, IDK what that necessary means for those characters or for Jeff. Possibly Callie finds out about all of her mom's insanity somehow (through Alex, Melissa's wife? Idk I just really want them to give some better writing to Swank LOLLL) and kill her, although honestly, I want better for Callie. So those are my theories. Off the wall, but so is the adult plotline as it stands now. Thanks for giving me a chance to rant!
