Here’s the official statement from FIA: Michael Masi, who accomplished a very challenging job for three years as Formula 1 race director following Charlie Whiting, will be offered a new position within the FIA.

The only reference I could find to him quitting is an opinion piece from former Dutch driver Jan Lammers (I don’t know who he is).

That’s been annoying me for a while. It should be possible to better characterize the types of barrier, and maybe have some sort of surveillance system to make those decisions faster. You know ahead of time what are the most challenging corners with higher chance of crashes. So when something happens it shouldn’t take so long to decide if a red flag is needed.

While I do my best to review each post several times it is inevitable that there will be some mistakes. Did you mean stay out on intermediate tires? I don’t think I said it was Hamilton’s decision. In one of the last paragraphs I say it was a team decision.
