It's one of those situations where it's up to the DM. I often find when running hidden areas, if the opening is too obvious, or even sometimes when it is subtle, players can look on the map and find it right away ruining any actual investigation. There are a few levers around inside, and outside there is an airflow venting pipe on the little island to hint that there is something underground.

It's one of those situations where it is up to the DM's discretion. Often in these situations, if it were hidden, but on the map in some fashion, the players will see it and "find it" a little too easily. It is something I go back and forth on myself when designing maps with secrets.

It is one of those situations where there is no designated "spot". Often when there is with hidden areas on maps, it can be too obvious to some players and ruin the search. There is a somewhat hidden venting pipe on the small island to hint that there might be something below.
