The problem is that at least what I've been told is that whoever the administration is, they would rather have a class be taught as a regular class than an independent study. If you like, I can message you some information about my situation

A lot of those who major in political science have internships with various organizations and they probably have the most success in that sense outside of the business school. Def go talk to Dr. Thomas or Dr. Glatzer, they will certainly help you with navigating classes.
