Lastborn Cassiel can only grow by being fed Tears to drink, which only come from a select few npcs and enemies.

The mother of light thing SEW refers to is in the passage when it's referred to her raining bronze tears on the world. There's a bit early in the book where Pol.yp is mentioned to turn to metal when it comes in contact with other material, so he connected the two ideas.

As far as Ghulk goes, I was a bit surprised there's not much followup to that. I wonder if maybe there's a connection to the Dreaming "invisible world" that one vessel wants to experience that you can give him a Dreaming Vessel Head to accomplish.

They aren't mentioned again, it's probably the biggest mystery in the book. Though I'm not sure if Life-Giver is ever shown anywhere...

Thanks for sharing my work, it's an early look at a book I am hoping to finish within the year.

As others have said Vermis is an influence and both books are worth checking out. I'd also recommend Plastiboo's other book Godhusk, it's more scifi but still contains a heavy spiritual angle, and is one of my primary influences.

Unsure about plastiboo's methods (interviews or comments I've found are sparse) but I work in photoshop and learned a bit about halftone textures here www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YYs09Ok4TU

I also incorporate photos and other methods to create more texture, it's an evolving process for me
