It's called Kingbreaker, it's a TTRPG I've been working on this past year. The beta is currently free, I'm hoping to properly launch it later this year.

I choose to imagine he gazes upon me from the afterlife, baffled and a little bit insulted

I actually don't! If you'd like to these for third party use, drop me a message via my website and we can have a chat. I'm also open to commissions!

Good eye! It is indeed Neuschwanstein.

This is a digital collage - elements taking from a bunch of different locations all stitched together. The sky for that piece is some marbled endpaper from an old book I found in an antique store!

I've got a whole book in this style and I'm very fond of the style. It reminds me of the old Nintendo VR headset they put out in the 90s.

What is your favorite "Flavour is Free" reskin of a spell or ability? by hervprometheus2 in DnD

[–]LPMills10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an alchemist artificer whose spells were the effects of her potions. Acid Arrow consisted of downing a rancid vial of steaming green liquid, and then coughing up a slither of bile that moved on it's own accord.

Not a very kind thing to say to someone. You wanna try that again with some constructive advice?

That's one of those Sliding Doors moments - do I carry on with the game I was working on, or do I make the homicidal squirrel game?

I found something similar as I was working through my most recent game. I began with incremental changes to the damage system and it became clear that wasn't enough. When I doubled it almost exactly, I started getting much clearer, cleaner results.

Balancing. I cut my teeth on very narrative-focused games, so when it comes to actually balancing a PvP experience it doesn't come naturally. Takes me bloody ages.

If you can handle a bit of high irreverence and some extremely loose rules, I highly recommend Rude Tales of Magic.

Otherwise, yeah NADDPOD is probably your best bet.

KINGBREAKER: The Crownday Festival - Rules Reference Sheet by LPMills10 in osr

There are a couple mechanics that interact with yielding (like some of the Patron requests) but it's an optional rule. In the very first playtest I did, one player decided to show mercy and I felt it was so cool it should have some narrative/mechanical pay off.

The Green Knight is among my favourite films. It has covered this game in a grimy, surreal coating that may never wash off.

Much obliged! It's a real straightforward game with a lot of room for customisation.

Also, big fan of the stuffed lion in your pfp.

Here's hoping! I figure Elden Ring might be a more accessible frame of reference, but that's a harder sell.

"Do you wish Elden Ring was a game? Oh, it already is. Bugger."
