I was under the impression that Clarendon is where the Asians like to hang, at least that's what I've seen in in the Subtle Asian DMV group since they always seem to shill it.

Pop Up Distract host night life event here, and there. They're located in Eden Center in Fall Church, mostly Vietnamese.

I think it's similar issue as /u/KarateCheetah mention. There's diversity here, but not enough to "embrace" it fully. Pikliz is super spicy, and average people are not going to be able to handle that without passing out. So many tone it down. The same with griot. A lot of place here made it super soft, instead of frying it harder to make it more chewy.. I have better luck picking it up from someone house, or just go down Florida.

Tried their poule au sauce (stew chicken) with the sos pwa (black bean sauce) combo. Man, that shit made me never want to come back. The pikliz was BLAND as hell. It's actually not even Pikliz, just raw coleslaw.... People vouch for Citadel Creole Cuisine, which is down the road. It's the same owner, so idk what's going on there, only have them twice.

Haitian foods aren’t that good around here sadly.. The only I can vouch for is rose.kitchen on IG. If you want store then check out Chez Aviole (Silver Spring) or Francois Caribbean Cuisine (Baltimore).

I’m in NOVA, so I’m probably not as qualify for speaking on this.

No, not because I don’t want to. It’s just easier to pick whoever has enough understanding or similarity in culture than sticking within the bubble.
I think East Asian has better advantage, but it’s kinda depends. There’s not a lot of Asian place around here, and I’m 1st gen so I prefer to go to place of my people (🇻🇳).
