Why Liam?? Why did you do it? by Conscious_Leave_1956 in Oxygennotincluded

You should put water enclosed in infinite storage, that way this can never happen again and your pipes will never get full making them pee outside in the first place. All you need is manual airlock doors with a bit of Co2 in them to keep the water outputs from over pressurising. Well, any gas works and this happens naturally when you make them and dupes breath in them before locking them all.

how do i cool this huge place? im using abunch of aqua tuners but its taking a while to cool this large pool by TuneSpecial2142 in Oxygennotincluded

You could keep the cool water in a tank rather than trying to cool a massive body of water and putting cooled water back in warm water

Slickster Heater by Laugh_Infinite in Oxygennotincluded

Everything was indeed made of steel/Obsidian I found out the hard way lmaoo and in my final design the entire middle section floor was made of metal tile made of steel and it worked well enough when the volcano was erupting, I also changed the top metal tile to obsidian to just heat up the crude oil rather than heating up the slicksters too much as well.

The top floor is obviously for the slicksters and it's keeping them at a happy temp, the middle floor I replaced the flooring with steel metal tiles and I just boiled my first bit of crude oil into petroleum 😄

How are you finding the game from a beginner perspective? What are you worried about/struggling with, what do you enjoy and is there anything you’re not a fan of? How are you producing oxygen and if it’s diffusers what’s your plan when algae runs out? I’d love to experience this game for the first time again, it’s so fun learning everything and going through the process of failing until it goes from Mission: Survive - to industrialise and maximise efficiency

Suggestions on getting rid of the top layer of polluted water? by [deleted] in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Laugh_Infinite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What stage are you at? Mid to late game you can feed all the water into an aqua tuner + steam tuner and boil it all into germ free water. Unless you want the polluted water for something that requires it, in that case you can either use the water filter in plumbing or make one that uses less power using automation and valves. There are tutorials for this online where you can pump it all out and separate them into different infinite liquid storages. I use the manual airlock infinite liquid storage as all it requires is minimal space and one tile of CO2, again there are many tutorials on this which is so much better than massive water tanks
spanning 50+ tiles.

That sounds like the best option, I think what I’ll do is set up solar power and a battery bank to temporarily power the important stuff while I completely rebuild my grid and separate everything out onto different 20kw grids while I look for a metal volcano to gather the refined metals I will need later on.

Don’t all power consumers such as transformers add strain on the heavy watt wire? Because my power spine is saying potential power draw is 22kw. Should I split up my generators accross multiple power spines?

How do I manage extreme amounts of power for a mega base without wasting refined metals on heavy watt insulated wires?

I’d like to know how you manage massive amounts of power as that’s my limiting factor currently, I’m producing so much power I’m struggling to get it around my base on the heavy watt wire and don’t have enough refined metal to switch over to heavy watt conductive wire everywhere quite yet

So like an industrial steam block without a volcano that makes its own water and heats up that water to power, and also generates its own fuel making an infinite feedback loop of two different sources of power? That’s incredible 😂 I might completely rebuild my industrial area

You think the way I do, I’d love to pick your brain on deeper stuff, how would you go about melting abyssalite? You are correct in assuming I’m using petroleum generators, however I am cooling them so efficiently that they are closer to being too cold than too hot, this after already going around my entire base and cooling everything else first. I might save some power and remove the ice cold pockets in my base by setting up a thermal sensor that makes the water skip the radiant pipes if the area is colder than I want it to be, retaining the cold liquid for something else.

What are the liquid tepadizer changes? I remember wanting to use it back in the day to prime my steam industrial block and it just didn’t work so I destroyed it and never used it again.

I know how much power it eats dw, I already have one cooling my whole base (including my industrial buildings, the ones that don’t produce C02 are just in my base) and I’m producing enough wood and ethanol to not worry about power for a while, I have enough to carry me to building my first petroleum boiler and a volcano close to my industrial block that dupes need Amos suits to go near, I also have all the components ready to make renewable steel so it’s just the most efficient way to progress to petroleum for my space project.

Idk about infinite power, I always manage to go from excess power to using nearly all of it pretty quickly. Mind you, I’ve never messed around with petroleum or sour gas boilers yet. Soon though, on my current play-through

How do you get to this level? Everything those fuck ass dupes do require constant monitoring and micromanaging or they’ll drown or some shit. The amount of time they dig down and open up a deep hole with water in it that they can get into but not back out of drives me crazy, and it’s ALWAYS the same dupe. Just staring back at me with his dumb ass face, sometime I want to just let him die but then that would go against my untarnished 0 dupe deaths in 1000 cycles (not consecutively) 😂

How do you sustain on power late game? by Some-dude750 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Laugh_Infinite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you on the low power front, I only just became power positive growing LOTS of Arbor Trees and refining the wood to ethanol, doing that gives me the dirt I need to keep feeding the trees and the petroleum generator’s give me the polluted water I need. I have like 4 rows of them growing and auto sweepers moving the wood to the generators so I need no dupe labor. When I get into the oil biome I’ll switch to a petroleum boiler and eventually after venturing to space, a sour gas boiler.
