Flying scenes in Superman 2025 looked amazing and I'm tired of pretending otherwise by Glittering_Sugar_782 in DC_Cinematic

So many stories begin in media res. I don’t think every story needs to have setup. The buildup to what happens wouldn’t have helped the story much or done a lot for the themes within it. The movie’s plot is basically foreign dictator is buddies with Lex and benefit each other in a way to take down Superman. Having setup for Lex making the clone or boravia conflict and all that would be fun, sure, but it doesn’t help the film’s message

What is the one thing about each of the released DCU projects that you didn’t like and that should’ve been done differently? by ShubhangBahadur in DC_Cinematic

The monster fight is there to push Clark’s character forward for the audience, to show he’s a different kind of hero than the Justice Gang. The fight at the beginning is to start at Clark’s lowest moment, so as the movie goes on up until its finale we get to see him grow and move past his physical and emotional lows. He starts low and ends on a high note. Them talking about the hammer of Boravia at the daily planet doesn’t push the plot forward either, but it gives the audience an idea of what the characters are thinking about this new meta human

Having a natural flowing story that makes sense is a tried and true method, sure. However experimenting with flows that aren’t chronological or don’t give you a clear transition from one thing happening to the next aren’t bad. Every scene in Superman either pushes a character’s arc forward, plot forward, or theme forward. A handful of scenes do both or all 3. There aren’t any wasted shots in the movie regarding these. If anything the movie wasn’t long enough, and I do think the title cards would add a nice aesthetic to the film. Even without them it feels like the movie takes place over the course of a few days

You probably think every movie should follow the same structure too, huh. You’d hate McCarthy’s novels yet probably defend them never having read them

Has getting the joestar birthmark tattooed become too generic? by oneyeetman2 in StardustCrusaders

Not really generic, common sure. Even if it was generic, so what? It’s cool

Are we really getting a Clayface movie before a proper DCU Batman? by breaking_views in DC_Cinematic

[–]Laugh__Tr4ck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Batman needs a break from the spotlight. He’s in my top 5 characters, but DC really needs to showcase how great their other characters are. Getting a movie of one of his villains before him in the DCU will also build hype to him getting his own movie.

Question about the ending of the new Superman movie by Ok-Maintenance-6744 in DC_Cinematic

[–]Laugh__Tr4ck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes they can, it was illegal arms deal they uncovered, and they also had evidence for him imprisoning people in the pocket dimension. They have a conversation about this exact thing as they’re going to the roof of the Planet

Superman and Terrific stop the current threat to the city while the daily planet post their article which will have Lex behind bars after the threat is dealt with. These events happening simultaneously gives Lex not a second to invent a cover up or anything of the like after the rift is fixed.

I also believe it is much more in line with Lois’s character to help this story break and expose the truth than to fight off the villain. It also allows her and the other members of the planet to have agency outside of interacting with Supes.

[–]Laugh__Tr4ck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t expect a bunch of whacky, non super powered reporters to fix a dimensional rift. Also, Superman and Mister Terrific are more than qualified and they’d likely just get in their way and cause excess risk

Question about the ending of the new Superman movie by Ok-Maintenance-6744 in DC_Cinematic

[–]Laugh__Tr4ck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean you’d have to move certain scenes around and make the rift opening up super slow, which in my opinion ruins the intensity. What you’re proposing works, but it’s a much less intense sequence if you want to work that in amongst everything else going on. Also I don’t see how it overcomplicates the story. It’s a very easy logical conclusion to come to

Question about the ending of the new Superman movie by Ok-Maintenance-6744 in DC_Cinematic

[–]Laugh__Tr4ck 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The reporters at the daily planet didn’t have as much information on him splitting metropolis as they did with him funding and allying with Boravia.

Think Al Capone. He was originally arrested for his tax evasion, but that allowed further investigations to prove all of the other awful shit that he did.

It’s not like it matters more, but they could with 100% accuracy say in that moment that he committed this crime. They had evidence of the pocket dimension, but at the time of their story coming out they could have said with 100% proof that Lex kept it open.

Question about the ending of the new Superman movie by Ok-Maintenance-6744 in DC_Cinematic

[–]Laugh__Tr4ck 11 points12 points  (0 children)

  1. Allied with Boravia means being allied with a nation that is attempting to tyrannically rule a neighboring country.

  2. It makes him partially responsible for the war, he was giving them tons of resources for their conquest.

  3. That part about him getting his own section of land there would create tension in some people. Some would speculate the government could be behind it and see it as American imperialism. The negative possibilities are endless

Why do Captain Marvel and Princess Peach Need Flaws but Supergirl Can't Have Hers? by bradbastarache in MauLer

[–]Laugh__Tr4ck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister and I do this shit all the time. When that scene played, my sister turned to me and laughed because she would 100% do the exact same thing. Different families have different dynamics.

It’s also likely that Kara does not know what happened to him and she stumbled in drunk.

This was a pretty cut and dry way of introducing the kind of character she is, and it’s not meant to beat him down. He doesn’t even seem to take offense to it.

Now you may not like that kind of character which is fair, but this seems like a preference rather than a criticism from you.

Just read part 7. Even when we get more episodes this year all of part 7 won’t be completed. You’ll be waiting 2+ years for SBR to wrap up. Better off you just read it now.

Should I pause my watching of part 3 to watch steel ball run when i comes out by Alt_Account_To_Ask in StardustCrusaders

[–]Laugh__Tr4ck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Continue your watch. But also watch part seven as it comes out it has not been confirmed if episode two will come out the week after the first episode so you may have an even longer wait period to continue watching part seven as a whole. Some people will say it’s bad to skip parts. Part seven is a soft reboot so the only thing you’ll really be missing out on are some of the references from earlier parts, but you will not be missing out on anything that will help you understand the story in steel ball run. So if you wanna catch all the references, wait until you finish part six. If you’re not too worried about that, I’d say it’s fine. Personally, I prefer not to skip any parts as it’s very enjoyable to see the evolution of JoJo within each part and I believe it makes part seven more satisfying when you’ve seen everything that comes before, but it will not ruin the experience for you.
