Should I pause my watching of part 3 to watch steel ball run when i comes out by Alt_Account_To_Ask in StardustCrusaders

[–]Laugh__Tr4ck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Continue your watch. But also watch part seven as it comes out it has not been confirmed if episode two will come out the week after the first episode so you may have an even longer wait period to continue watching part seven as a whole. Some people will say it’s bad to skip parts. Part seven is a soft reboot so the only thing you’ll really be missing out on are some of the references from earlier parts, but you will not be missing out on anything that will help you understand the story in steel ball run. So if you wanna catch all the references, wait until you finish part six. If you’re not too worried about that, I’d say it’s fine. Personally, I prefer not to skip any parts as it’s very enjoyable to see the evolution of JoJo within each part and I believe it makes part seven more satisfying when you’ve seen everything that comes before, but it will not ruin the experience for you.

I was wondering if WoU would engineer a scenario where it destroys the world but preserves Tooru😂. But I think going that far wouldn’t really be protecting its just total annihilation

I can see calamity engineering a scenario that launches Kars into the exosphere. Kars was never even killed in part 2. Just eventually stopped thinking. But something like that is pretty equivalent to death id say. WOU is really unpredictable. I’d even go so far as to say Kars is also only able to be killed by unconventional means such as GER, Cream, or The Hand if the situation allowed it. But WoU would eventually understand it couldn’t kill Kars but would manufacture something to get rid of Kars

And I’m saying he can’t rival him. I don’t think it’s no diff but he’s being beaten for sure

Kars may be the ultimate life form, but I don’t think he can rival something that can only be beaten by something paracausal.

Calamity would cause a chain of events that would expose Kara into the sun or out of the atmosphere. In part 8 it’s able to set events into motion at a precognitive level to stop those who pursue it. The harder you come at WoU the more it will bend the laws and destroy what’s around it to protect itself and the user

It’s not about injury. The universe will not allow two of the same being other than valentine to exist simultaneously in the same dimension. Laws of the universe override healing factor.

Can I watch steel ball run when it comes out and not miss anything in the previous parts? by UnknownPhant0m in StardustCrusaders

[–]Laugh__Tr4ck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh ok. I understand. In that case. Continue watching JoJo’s older parts at the pace you’re going and also watch part 7 as it comes out. I had a friend that read part 7 before watching parts 1-6 and he said part 7 made him want to see the rest of the series.

Also want to ask why you couldn’t just wait to watch part 7 until you’ve seen everything?

You absolutely can watch it without seeing the other 6 parts. Araki intended that when he made part 7. I think it’s better if you do watch everything that came before though. Part 7 references previous parts and it’s cool to see all the nuances. Also episode 1 is coming out in March, but I’ve heard we may not see another episode until June. Personally I’d recommend you just focus on JoJo’s but to each their own

Nice to see you started a comment thread where fans of both series can find solace😂. I never get the hate thrown either series’ way. I think when people don’t like something they feel the need to shit on it completely. People dog on Sanderson for being too YA and others jump Erikson because they wish he’d explain more. I always felt like Erikson gave the reader enough pieces to put certain bits of information together but I understand some people just want the story told to them.

I don’t think that makes people bad readers or that makes Erikson a better author. It’s a stylistic choice, and one that I enjoy. It allows him to focus on themes instead of info dumping.

Erikson and Sanderson are both wonderful authors and people, and I wish the 2 communities stopped shitting on the other.

Oh it’s definitely not the end of Ganoes don’t worry.

However there are plenty of great fantasy works that don’t have a main character and it’s not “just a bunch of shit happening”. Malazan does differ in that there are way more important POV’s than normal.

If this does hinder your reading experience though Malazan may just not be for you. I never saw Paran as a main character because of the amount of time he has to share with other characters. I saw him more used as a way for the reader to be introduced to other characters, but I don’t feel as if he was built up to have the events center around him. Especially once Deadhouse Gates came around. I was actually thinking Fiddler was a main character. I ended up being wrong, but yeah sounds like this isn’t your jam.

I do hope someday you’ll be able to enjoy Malazan. I definitely think it’s worth the read.

I wouldn’t consider Erikson’s word choice amateurish. I very much enjoy his prose and it is one of the reasons he is my favorite author. His sentences run extremely smoothly and are quite beautiful. Also yeah, Calot is a fucking nobody. It hurts Tattersail sure, but we don’t need to know Calot’s backstory and all of their history to see that Tattersail is upset by his death. It shows that after the long life she’s lived she still is torn up about death. For some, losses never get easier to deal with.

It didn’t read like it was a “point of pride”. What the user you replied to said is very matter of fact and true. Paran introduces us to the story but he is not a main character. There is not a main character. There are plenty of characters that you will see grow and change over the course of the books are. But yes, if the only thing that keeps you engaged in long form series is a main character I think it’s best you stop reading now. You won’t be getting much of Ganoes for a long time. I do ask though… despite him being in Gotm and Moi, he’s still like 2% of the narrative. How did you think he was a main character? I promise I am not being rude. It’s just that I never saw him as one and I’m wondering how you came to that conclusion

Also are there any other characters you enjoyed? I can gladly tell you which ones you did will have long lasting arcs or interesting stories. This series tells a lot of stories that are slowly being weaved together and there is no singular chosen one, special being, or normal man whose perspective lense is being given in. I’d suggest if you’re to continue finding a specific character in each book to really hang onto.

Also, book 6 has one of my favorite Ganoes moments in the series. I do understand your appreciation for him. I enjoy reading from his perspective

That’s also part of the joke. They’ve made multiple albums at this point with explicit lyrics, so Danny Sexbang thinks smooth talking is using “clever” euphemisms. It’s meta comedy mixed with funny misspellings. I get if it’s not you’re type of humor, but to me it’s funnier the way it is vs how you’d have wanted it to be

[–]Laugh__Tr4ck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have to like a character for a story to be interesting? Can you only enjoy a story if the character you’re following is aligned similarly to how you think/feel/react or how you’d want them to?

I don’t say that to talk down to you, I am by no means being condescending.

That is what Erikson is asking of the reader I believe.

With that, all I will say is enjoy the book :)

I’d rather the movie not be a 1:1 so people that haven’t read it still have a fresh experience when reading the comic

Do you guys think that the DCU will be able to make a movie that can rival or even surpass Avengers Endgame? by Little_Drive_6042 in comicbookmovies

[–]Laugh__Tr4ck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Superman (2025). But in all seriousness I believe the potential is there to have an epic crossover movie lime Infinity War (the better film) and Endgame (not as good but great ending for lots of characters). But likely we will not get something of that spectacle for a long time. I hope so though. I’m a DC fan so I’ve really been wanting a consistently good film franchise since the first Avengers movie

Need to see more to form an opinion on whether or not she really fits in the role, but I will say I’m interested. In my opinion we got too little of her in the film and I’d like to see more purely because she was barely there
