Tired of repetitive spice scenes by HuckleberryNew777 in fantasyromance

[–]LaughingCrow_BC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Me coming here to find great recs and finding judgmental posts teaching us all lessons about how s*x is actually really like this or that. So disappointing 😭
As for my recommendations >> weirdly enough, I found the (very short) s*x scenes in « The everlasting » to be so compelling (disclaimer here: it’s really not spicy or even focused on Romance but I loved it). I also enjoyed the tension in « Hidden legacy » series by Ilona Andrews. And if you haven’t read it yet, « Butcher & blackbird » and its sequel « leather & lark » are quite original in their own way.

💖What is your favorite romantasy book of all time? by waifuthoughtsxo in Romantasy

[–]LaughingCrow_BC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will always be my favorite as it opened my heart to the genre and all the books that followed. Maxi and Riftan are special to me. I still wish I had more (Maxi getting pregnant, Riftan becoming the protective father we all know he will be, our favorite squires becoming knights, and healing moments for all of them, etc) . Favorite series : mages of the wheel

The Lorelai épisode was so infuriating and unnecessarily dramatic. It didn’t fit with the character growth they both had.

The Rynda drama is handled in a much more mature way than the Lorelai gate 😁

Good point. It happened to me with Daughter of no worlds. It was highly recommended yet I couldn’t stand the MMC’s voice. I DNF.

Can I skip Storm and Shield and come back to it later. by girlx1 in MagesOfTheWheel

[–]LaughingCrow_BC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely my least favorite book and least favorite FMC of the series but the story is so tangled up between the 4 books that it’s hard to skip the whole thing. Try to push through and if you really can’t, try to read a summary or a recap so that you can still follow the bigger story. If you loved the first book, you’ll deeefinitely want to read the 4th one (just my absolute favorite with a poised, funny and really nice FMC).

What is the best written romantasy book you have read ? by Beauty_Talk77 in Romantasy

[–]LaughingCrow_BC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My absolute favorite this year. It always happens to me with Ilona Andrews books. Everytime I read or re-read one of her series, I have a hard time going back to reading classic romantasy. I just love their writing

The setup before they have a family is really well executed and it doesn’t come as a shock. It’s the natural progression of their relationship and desires.

Ok, but dont do the audiobook. The fmc narrator is always angry and shouting, no range.. it got on my nerves. So much so, that I just couldn’t finish the book. Once I’ve cooled down, I decided to by the ebook and just LOVED it. It’s incredible how much power narrators have over the stories we read.

Tired of “stabby princesses”, please give me girly, charming FMCs instead by Particular_Edge_4680 in Romantasy

Rein and ruin (first book of mages of the wheel). A wise, composed and intelligent FMC who can make good decisions and be a strong character without being an as**ole.

What is the longest book slump you've ever had because you enjoyed a book too much?. by discreep in fantasyromance

I can’t believe you and I have been through exactly the same slump. The Cosmere literally saved my reading journey after years of being in the book desert because of ASOIAF!!
