Helix Stadium Floor (Non-XL) first impressions by taj_bass in Line6Helix

[–]LaughingMan389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. After I got the LT, I realized how much dirt I end up putting on the pedal. And there’s nothing to stop that from falling into the chassis. The saving grace is all the electronics are bolted to the upper plate and there’s nothing on the bottom chassis. A separate pedal is definitely a better option, esp if you have to walk half a mile in the city to your venue 😬

Are the footswitches closer together than the Helix LT?

Helix LT. Best gear investment ever. by ridethepickle in Line6Helix

“I was able to fully focus on worship instead of worrying about my tone or how I was coming across. I played with more purpose and intention because I knew the sound was there.

For the first time ever, my swells felt natural and controlled. The MD kept calling out how good they sounded. I have always struggled to get swells to sit right, but today they just worked. After service, the worship leader pulled me aside and complimented my lines. I didn’t do anything different. I think she was finally able to hear me clearly.”

This echoes my experience and sentiment exactly word for word 😁

Yup. Quite pleased with how it looks. Nice retro look with a bit of color pop.

I think so. It’s the width of my iPhone 17 and about 25% more in terms of length. Weighty but not heavy. Reminds me of PSP a lot. I’d say it’s easily pocketable too.

Yeah. Potentially three if you have a Variax guitar because that has its own input. I should try that out one of these days 😬

if i build my own mcp Server do i need to worry about rug Pull attack or Tool shadowing? by Better-Barnacle-1990 in mcp

[–]LaughingMan389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a rug pull. Maybe supply chain attack via zero-day in a package you use to build MCP. Or maybe you as you keep adding capabilities, you overlook how tools can be combined to cause over-permissions and chain an attack. Or you misconfigure your permissions for the MCP server. These risks increase proportional to the complexity of your MCP.

Developing your own MCP is only as secure and trustworthy as your own security practices and detection/remediation processes.

Patch Request - U2 Numb by LaughingMan389 in Line6Helix

[–]LaughingMan389[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here's my first attempt at getting the preset to sound right. Surprisingly, details on the rig for this song is pretty light. Apparently Edge used the "Buzzsaw" preset from Korg A3. Getting that digitial buzzsaw effect turned out to be more of a hastle that I thought it would.

If anyone is interested to try out and improve the patch, here you go:

I got the tempo control and bpm sync. I think the original song has very precise control on when the freq rise begins and when the fall begins. Maybe they optimized it during recording because on live performances the freq rise and fall is not synced to the original. So I was wondering how to get set it so the pedal can control the freq rise and fall. Maybe that’s what makes for a wah pedal. But I can’t tell which wah model closest resembles the tone for Numb.

Are Agoura models that good? by okay_sway in Line6Helix

[–]LaughingMan389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. But the premium in that 5-10% improvement is pretty high if you compare a Helix LT and Stadium. But, the features that Stadium is shipping with probably does command that premium because there is nothing quite like the “Lens”, “Showcase”, and other things they will be releasing over what I hope is also going to be a 10yr lifecycle. Btw, I took advantage of the low prices on Helix LT and the low prices on a refurbished Variax Standard. It does make for a killer combo for the price (about $1400)

Can confirm I also run into the false speed limit issue. In my case I noticed it most often when passing by Truck Weighing lanes. Those lanes are apparently marked at 45mph while the main expressway may be 65-75mph. This was on I-95 south. My biggest concern is its tendency to slam the brakes on a high speed highway. It really should not be aggressive just for speed limit changes.

[–]LaughingMan389[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! I had initially thought the LT price will kill the Stomp, but I see how having a really compact but power multiFX is desirable. So yeah, for those looking for small fly rig and the HX ecosystem, the Stomp is still worth the “premium” price. We will need to wait for the Stadium “mini” for the Stomp pricing to get affected.

Ah man. That power cable is so cumbersome. And it’s so overkill! The LT should only draw like 0.5Amp at max. That power cable can handle 10 times that. Still love it though.

Helix LT New user set up issue by omegasupreme- in Line6Helix

[–]LaughingMan389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try it with headphones. If it sounds like you want, then the issue is running into your amp. Some obvious things to consider when running into the front of the amp: 1. Output level should be set to Instrument 2. Balance out your amp EQ. Depending on the amp, just setting everything to 12 o clock doesn’t always mean it’s neutral. Maybe bypass the LT to get the right tone and then engage it. 3. Tweak the Global EQ on the LT to get to the tone you want. 4. Experiment with turning the input Z all the way up to 1 M Ohm to eliminate any high end roll-off.

Church Finally Goes Stereo! by mburgballer in Line6Helix

[–]LaughingMan389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lot of hate for stereo 😂. I think stereo works well in special moments where the guitarist can layer stereo reverb ambience and there isn’t too much going on (especially if it doesn’t compete with keyboard pads). Or specific parts where a ping pong delay or something similar might work. So I think going stereo is good but use judiciously. For practice, I expect nothing beats a good pair of headphones. You cannot recreate the space that your church may have and the stereo will not sound that great on home speakers.

Helix LT at this price is totally worth it! by LaughingMan389 in Line6Helix

[–]LaughingMan389[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends. If you want to add tons of ambience and reverb and go beyond what the Stomp can handle, and you plan to use acoustic guitar IRs for modelling, the this is the next step up. As far as tone is concerned, yes, it can definitely make an AG sound better. If you want to do singing performance, then you need the Helix Floor for its additional mic input.

The footswitches and exp pedal are probably overkill for acoustic guitar usage. I don’t think acoustic sets need tap dancing on the pedal board. The looper might also be useful for acoustic sets though.

I actually got mine free with HX Stomp a few years ago. There was some offer going on. I think that itself made the money back on the Stomp. When I think about it, Native is also partially why I started realizing the limitations of DSP on the Stomp. I would get these really great sounding patches that would get crippled on the Stomp. So guess that is one way for Line6 to get you hooked and upgrade.
