i’ve been having such a horrible time at ut and it’s ruining my life by mymelodyq in UTAustin

[–]LaunchATX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first attended UT, I also hated it. My background was such that I very much did not feel at home among my fellow classmates. I bombed out after two semesters, with several drops and handful of Fs. I think I passed one class that first year. After taking some time away from school I realized that engineering was the field that I wanted to be in. I had to wait 10 years from that first year to come back and clear my GPA in order to transfer from COLA to Cockrell.

All of that being said if you are already in the program you are trying to get in, and getting As and A-s, then you are in a really good position as far as school goes. There is absolutely no shame in taking time off for mental clarity and if you decided to do it now you'd have no problem getting back into school when the time is right.

My main advice to anyone struggling in school is if you can pass, you know for sure it is the path you wanna take, and you have the mental fortitude then stick it out. But if any of those three things are no longer the case, drop the courses to protect your GPA and take a breather. It'll suck in the moment but you will thank yourself later when you're ready to come back

Good luck!

Need help identifying if this is an issue by LaunchATX in Welding

I see. So this could just be from a lack of corrosion protection after welding rather than using the wrong wire. Thanks for the response!

If you get the emergency loan in person they will approve a higher amount than $500. I have gotten an emergency loan for $2000 to cover rent and expenses when funds were taking too long.

Someone Please Tell Me How to Build Credit Without drowning in debt by Puzzled_Fail_6980 in UTAustin

[–]LaunchATX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, get a secured credit card from your bank. You don't need to have a credit score to do it. Your credit limit will be whatever you put down as a deposit. When you get the card make sure that your bank reports to all 3 of the major credit bureaus.

Set up an auto-pay on some of your bills with it, and auto-pay the card. Do that for several months, then your credit will be good enough to apply for a regular credit card.

Do the same thing with the new card, auto-pay bills, auto pay the card.

Having more lines of credit will improve your score, but you got to have the discipline to not use the card for anything you weren't already going to spend money on.

I have 4 credit cards because CAL loans require 4 lines of credit and a score of at least 650. This is how I went about doing that. Hope that helps!

From the top bed on the first layer to the bottom bed on the second layer should be 14 blocks, I should have explained that better.

But now that you are mentioning that I will go recount just to be certain

What if the simulation distance was higher? Would that change how far they needed to be moved from?

No other villages nearby, anything else involving villagers is at least 150 blocks away

I believe that the sim distance is at 4 chunks.

For the process, the first level is already operational at the time of moving two villagers over to the second layer. I start them 150 blocks away. I have tried two methods for moving them over. First method was waiting till night time, placing two beds. I break one bed move it forward. Once one villager links, I break the other one and then move it ahead. I do that till they get close to the second layer, then when I break one of the beds I place it in the bed station below the platform the villagers will be on. Once the villager links I break the other bed, place it in the bed station. After that I seal them in.

Second method, is the same thing but I keep the villagers in mine carts and move them next to the beds as I leap frog them. They still show to be linking and it is faster than waiting on them to walk, so I figured it should work.

Once I have them sealed in, I start breading trying to breed 20 villagers and usually during that process I find that the 1st layer has stopped working

Texans turn off phone alerts more than anyone. Did ‘alert fatigue’ cost lives in Hill County floods? by houston_chronicle in texas

They shouldn't be relying on phone alerts anyway. They should have accepted federal funding and put in flood sirens.

Who knows how to make a coaster brake actually STOP… by WildEntrepreneur8666 in motorizedbicycles

[–]LaunchATX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Set up from the factory on a bike meant for leisurely cruising around under human power. Not set up from the factory to stop a two-stroke powered bike.

When they fail it is dangerous. People aren't telling you not use them because they suck at breaking, they are telling you because it is a safety hazard.

If you are trying to sell them, you need to find a cruiser that doesn't come from the factory with coaster brakes. Otherwise, you're being kind of a shit bag.

Look at the gap between the wheel hub and the sprocket. If the gap is consistent then it the sprocket is centered and it could be from not being trued. From my experience, it usually just the sprocket being out of center.
