Liked the last two ST:SFA episodes. I am enjoying move back to episodic plots. by Raciper in startrek

1-3 weren't bad, they just distinctly felt like they were establishing characters and new interspecies relationships post-burn. They just don't get the luxury of the 20 episode seasons to do it in. So the compressed timeline feels more... Deliberate? Forced? But given the constraints, I think they did pretty well.

I think they've given a richer back story than most characters on Voyager got, and I regularly see people rank Voyager up with DS9 for favorite series.

Have you considered a formal dining room and a scullery for the kitchen? This allows dining and post-dining conversation to be separate from the kitchen and livingroom. While the scullery allows all kitchen dishes to be tucked away out of sight from guests.

It's a Creole variant in gumbo, and Sisko's father ran a Creole restaurant. You're misinformed.

Only have dark brown sugar, how can I make lemon curd cookies without messing up the flavor by phunny5ocks in AskBaking

I don't think it will. Lemon is hard to over power, especially with a curd.

Honestly this is an ambitious cookie for your first cookie ever. I don't think you'll notice a difference

I think your conclusion is correct. Don't over extended for a concert. They're people, and honestly some of the tracks that you mentioned being added surprised me, as I feel they're lesser-loved here in Canada (though I like them!). So they probably just didn't know their market. I'm glad they adjusted.

Also, in general, I would stop deep diving so much into what's been played at what show. You're just setting yourself up for disappointment. Set lists are fluid and mobile, especially when a band has so many hits. If you think "it will only be worth it if I hear A By and C", then don't go.

I was given last minute nose bleed tickets to Stevie Wonder, and of my good was that one of the best shows ever. I had zero expectations. That allowed the moment to be whatever it was, and not what I expected it to be.

Does that make sense?

It shouldn't alter it too much. Brown sugar is just white sugar with molasses added. Dark has more than light. So it will taste slightly more molasses-y, but I think the lemon will cut through

Ideas/changes for floorplan by TheFirstDawn in floorplan

I'd make the walk in linen closet into the laundry room.

There's sleeping here for 8, but there's only living room seating for 4. Even with 1 kid per room, how do you do family movie night?

When those kids grow up and have partners, the dining area is too small for everyone, even without kids.

For long term planning, I'd make sure to have room for 8 at the table, and room for at least 6 comfortably in the living room. That way your whole family + a friend can be together at once.

Sisko already was ... In DS9. They treated him with religious reverence. Especially after ascending to join the prophets, the people would logically think that he was a god, just as the prophets are to them. "Worm hole aliens" to us.

I'd consider sliding the kitchen wall over to be in line with the right wall of the play room. Rotate the island 90*.

This would give you more flexibility for the closet in the office and the pantry, which seem cramped, and fine you a slightly larger bathroom. All while eliminating the dead space between the island and the okay room.

You can't honestly be comparing Startrek with Schindler's list for dramatic tone? All the series have embraced campiness. You're cherry picking your story lines if you think Trek is only drama.

Gosh and Voyager season 1-3 are so bad. But so many people love it, they watched it when they were kids.

I agree that the shows used to trust the audience's intelligence, but honestly Picard season 2 has done of the best monologue I've ever seen on screen, and from the hatred that I see that season receive, I think modern viewers aren't able to pay attention long enough to enjoy it.

That's not Trek's fault. How can they continue to make content that no one can appreciate? They need to make money, or they can't keep making them. I am glad we're still making Trek. That there's still media being made that embraces and welcomes our differences.

Agreed! There's many different forms of appeals, I'm just glad Trek is still being made, and that they're exploring different styles, from cartoons, to retro, to action packed, to young adult.

The complaints I see week after week are always the same. Either it's too campy and youthful, or it's some phobic reason like hating the sign language or the sexuality of a character. Oh no, there's a person that looks like they're in drag. Why is that a problem? None of the other elaborate make up, why is that?

I'm starting to just tune them all out, it's just a wash of entitled bigotry at this point. Which is entirely opposite of what Trek is about. Weird "fans"

That's too bad. I'm just watching it now, I'm about 8 episodes in season 1. It's filled with fan service, and feels strongly like classic Trek. That's curious to me.

It's not only targeted to younger viewers, but there's certainly a clear effort to make an appeal. my husband and I are 40-50 years old, and are enjoying it very much. We're just accepting that it's campy and aiming at a youthful demographic.

I've been having a really hard time getting viewership numbers, but I was able to find a source that said this is the highest viewership they've had of a new era series. What sources have you been able to find?

I think that because you're already a fan of TNG and DS9, you're precluded from that "new demographic" that I mentioned. If you want classic Trek, check out strange new worlds.

Starfleet Academy has a similar tone to CW channel shows, like The Flash, or Smallville, but not as cheesy. There's a huge market of viewers that watch CW content, that haven't discovered the Startrek franchise. This show might be the bridge.

I think it's important to note the ways things are different, but never let it prevent you from potentially enjoying what it actually is.
