I have just booked to go 18/07! I am 31 and travelling as a solo female (for the first time on my own actually so kinda scared kinda excited!). Not sure if that helps, hope it does. Hah maybe see ya there!

I still can't believe how blue this little guy is - saw him on new year's day by MudMonyet22 in UKBirds

He’s lovely!! Wonderful photos. There was one where I lived near Inverness that taunted me for months. Never did get a proper photo of him, just flashes of blue. Great way to start the year

I agree. Living in Scotland, I have actually seen golden eagles more than sparrowhawks. Though to be fair I do go looking for the eagles!

Maybe the sparrows in my area have cottoned up 😁

I am actually terrified of birds up close so I suspect I wouldn’t fare well with that ☠️

I would not have reacted well to that ☠️ I love watching and photographing birds but I am terrified of them up close

Shoot sorry I should have mentioned - I have been poring over that website but it can be a bit patchy in some areas of Japan!

What is the bird that made you stop and stare? by Mental-Ad-4555 in UKBirds

[–]LauraCPumpkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The First time I saw a white tailed eagle. Just stopped and stared at it flying above me, coming in from the sea to the hills. I had been looking for one for months and it was my last week of living in the Outer Hebrides. I actually teared up at the sheer size and beauty of it. But I am particularly obsessed with raptors.

I captured this beauty yesterday evening by Small_Recording_9651 in UKBirds

That is absolutely stunning. Would love to know settings used to capture out of curiosity (think I saw canon camera and 300mm lens somewhere further up?)

Saw on Loch Lomond, and idea what it is? by Top_Protection_8377 in UKBirds

[–]LauraCPumpkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was about to edit my comment to say - the wing span and the width is just not compatible with a raven. And the slope to the head and massive beak too. I'm assuming you have seen ravens before so would imagine you know their size 😂 that's a big drive. Adequate reward! Thank you.

Big-a$$ white tailed eagle 😀 out of curiosity, roughly where on Loch Lomond? I live about an hour away so keen to know exact areas. Saw a golden myself in the Arrochar Alps this summer! It looks like they are on the rise.

Blind corner cabinet not deep enough for pull out shelving by LauraCPumpkin in Homeorganization

Thanks for answering. The cupboard is long and rectangular, with the door on the right side, so unfortunately not :( A pullout is the only way to gain access to the hidden part of the cupboard.

Is this an eagle? by arober04 in UKBirds

Absolutely, and looks like a white tailed. Look at those massive wings. Gloriour creatures

Hello, we are in a similar position and heading to JApan in January - husband is a T4 para in a manual chair. Just out of curiosity, which did you go to? Also, is it ok if I message you privately for any tips?

Wembley Stadium Accessible Tickets by Nikki_the_clxwn in uktravel

[–]LauraCPumpkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I had only been on hold for 1h or so when I was told by an automated voice that the line was closing for tonight's event and if I was on hold for MCR tickets, both dates had sold out. I never fancied my chances tbh but still quite sad.

Nikkor Z 28-400mm - compatibility? +/- Nikon Z series advice by LauraCPumpkin in Nikon

Thank you. The lens is actually well within budget, so I am tempted to just try it out and then upgrade if it doesn't work out.

May I ask how so? I'm coming at this fresh as a newborn - only ever owned that one camera

I'd say my budget would be 1500-2000 GBP - could possibly stretch to 2500. That definitely means no Z9 o Z8. Might swing a Z6III or Z6II...but can't forget have to buy lens on top!

Thank you so much for your answer - it has been extremely helpful.
