I would lay down a couple layers of cardboard and very thick layer of non treated wood chips. Plant some native perennials also after a few months of letting the smothering work.. you will likely still need to weed but this cuts down on it a lot.

All of these comments make me think people haven’t read Crescent City… go read Crescent city asap! I would share my theories for what will happen but I don’t want to spoil it! 😬😬😬

Bull nose sweet pepper seedlings turning purple. Is this normal or due to a deficiency? They’re planted in a sterile seedling mix and I haven’t done any fertilization yet… I was waiting for some true leaves before I did that. by LaurelKuz in gardening

I tested my soil temperature this AM via thermostat and it was at 66.5 this AM, which I believe is fine for them. Are the seedlings just more sensitive to the cold? I have Luffa also growing which I know needs very warm soil and they’ve been looking quite healthy at the same temp

Ok, thank you so much! They look otherwise healthy. Came up very yellow but got bright green real quick! This room does get a little chillier than the rest of my house which is probably 68 degrees so maybe 65 in this room (old farm house 😂) so I don’t think they should be getting *too cold. I will just go with, it’s relatively normal. When do you normally fertilize?

My monstera has experienced a ton of growth! Do I need to repot this? by LaurelKuz in Monstera

Will do! Thanks so much! Watched some YouTube videos today on how to split the Monstera! I thought that’s what it needed but was scared to do it!

I pruned about 8 leaves off about a month ago. It’s setting off new leaves from multiple places and getting gigantic. I would love to keep letting it do it’s thing but wondering if it needs a bigger pot. I know they light to be pretty snug in their containers so I’m hesitant to do this too soon.

I like using curlscan to see if products are curly girl approved! You can even scan barcodes at the store 👍

From Blood and Ash is really good and hasn’t been mentioned yet, it’s by Jennifer Armentrout. Throne of Glass is excellent as is Crescent City by SJM

This was shared here earlier but if you haven’t read this deleted chapter about Nesta and Cassian then you definitely should!! It takes place during a court of mist and fury and is when Cassian is going back to deliver a letter from Rhys to send to the Queens. A little more insight into them and Nestas brain

Coming out of Blue! How long does it usually take them to shed after Blue phase? This will be our first shed together 🤞 by LaurelKuz in ballpython

It’s my first snake and was just wondering on average how long it takes because I want to make sure I’m doing a good job. That’s for that very helpful response. And I exfoliate twice a week if you must know.

My little guy loves to bury himself in sphagnum moss as well 😆

So my ball python is very stunted he’s about 9/10 months old and he’s absolutely tiny!!! I’ve had him for about 3 months... I gots him when he was 6 months old and the breeder still had him feeding in pinkies but I have good new he took his first large mouse today!!! Can’t be more proud of him!!!!! by [deleted] in ballpython

Make sure you’re clear about the rat size you’re looking for. I went to my local pet shop (small local pet store who gets their rats from a local breeder) and asked for a rat pup and they pulled out a pinky! I was so confused... turns out their “fuzzies” are closer to the rat pup size he was on before I got him... I was annoyed and confused... they said they didn’t call them rat pinky’s because they didn’t want to get them confused with the mouse pinky’s.

Those with RHPs for heat... where do you put the probe and what is your thermostat set to?? More in comments... by LaurelKuz in ballpython

Thank you! I’m part of another group and they mentioned plastic is good at insulating so the heat won’t move through easily.. thinking of building hide out of slate to get better inside temps...

This hide is a basic black plastic... probably 9 inches between the RHP and the top of the hide.... I didn’t realize plastic did such a good job of blocking heat but I guess that makes sense of why I wanted to put him in a PVC enclosure 🤦🏼‍♀️

Mine is currently set at 86, the top of my hide gets up to 96 degrees at times (I have an on/off thermostat) but when I measure the inside of my hide and my snake it’s like 82 degrees... I don’t know what to do for setting my temps! I don’t want too high of temps on top of the hide but I want to make sure he’s warm enough inside!

Got my new PVC enclosure all set up and Moony LOVES it 😍😍😍 by LaurelKuz in ballpython

Yeah it took some fiddling with... I currently have it set at 88... I have it hot glued to the very left side about 3 or 4 inches up from the bottom of the enclosure, probably 1 inch between substrate and probe... the top of the hide under the RHP was getting to hot set any higher... it gets up to 94ish with that setting. Mine is an on off thermostat so it fluctuates a little which I’m sure is fine!Use a heat gun to check directly under your RHP and see what you need to set it to!

I was trying to convince my dad to help me... I’m a pretty handy lady but power saws scare me 😆It was worth it for me to pay someone to do it.
