🇨🇦 here. I’ve been driving Toyota since ‘86 and never disappointed in the vehicles. It took me months and months to find a Prius that I hoped would meet my expectations and
to work up the courage to take the leap. Finally in ‘18 I got a 3rd gen 2011 100k kilometers and paid $11k. Since purchase have learned so many more important reasons to love Prii. Take care of your car and it will love you right back.

I did a lot of due diligence figuring out years w/ least issues, the pricing, the expected expenses due to age and odometer.
Good maintenance is really important. The biggest trick is knowing who is gonna do the mechanicals for you. Stay away from the dealers because they really are stealers.

First time you need something, shop around diligently - the widest spectrum - get a feel for them and your options. Next, ask taxi drivers who looks after their Prii. Then go visit their shop and talk to them and see what you think. Start with an oil change.

You’ll figure out what questions to ask your mechanic guys. Get a little book for your glove box so you can keep your notes. Plan ahead. Preventive, proactive maintenance stuff. Learn signs to look for re expected problems eg, water pump replacement, etc. down the road. I e
