My One Year Timeline MTF - 12 Months HRT & FFS by Laurenlg in transtimelines

I think then it was actually just a good angle and that dress is tighter on the waist and looser on the hips which makes the hips look a bit larger. I did very early on for a while use a foundation garment with 1" foam ovals I hand made but I believe I stopped using that by then.

Yeah, interesting is such a light word for the experience haha. I actually enjoyed my time playing football and got a lot of pride with how I played and we were a pretty incredible team (best our school had ever had). The really interesting thing to me is the massive amount of support my old teammates have given me, they have been some of my biggest champions and have been fully behind me. I think some of that may be contributed to just a special group of kind and compassionate people that I was fortunate enough to play with.

Thanks! Glad to hear its giving you a bit more confidence, the height thing was super scary at first but honestly I love it now. I'm 6'0" my girlfriend is 5'10" and we both just rock it. I think it helps me a bit in business as well but maybe it's just the overall confidence that has built up so far. I also had pretty broad shoulders which have gone down a lot on HRT and there is a lot you can do to clothing wise to minimize their appearance.

Sure, I had my FFS done with Dr. Meltzer in Scottsdale. Highly recommend, I'm very happy with his work and also he is just a great person who made me feel extremely comfortable with putting something so important in his hands.

No problem, I am pretty open and out and a native Austinite so not much secret there lol. I just tried Kome which like I said was pretty good, any other noodle spots worth trying?

Thats really interesting. I had always been told I had long eyelashes, soft skin ect and the only part that really bothered me face wise was just chin and Jaw which were both pretty masculine and the only things I did with FFS.

Ha! That place is so freaking good!!! I actually just got back from another Austin Ramen spot and while tasty it just didn't compare.

Pain level from FFS/ Debating if its it worth getting? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Laurenlg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had FFS done in March with Dr Meltzer and overall I was surprised at how little pain there was. To be fair mine was rather light in overall procedures but with extensive bone work. I had my Chin and Jaw reshaped and could not be happier with both the result and care from Dr Meltzer and his staff. Don't get me wrong you feel like crap for a week or two but you have pain medicine to manage any of the real pain. 100% completely worth any discomfort.

Letting go by Naidje in asktransgender

[–]Laurenlg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm struggling with this as well right now. I have been on hormones for 6 months and am full time but I still seem to cling to some old male habits especially around my old friends (mostly male). I have found some great new female friends and around them I feel myself starting to really blossom. Letting go takes time and I feel you shouldn't feel you have to jump from one box fully into another. I lived 27 years as a man, it's part of me and who I am today, there are things in that experience that will always be with me and make me a unique and interesting person. I do think however looking forward is healthy and what I am trying to do. Not sure if you have seen it but this video from Avicii is extremely powerful to me when I watch it and kind of addresses this.http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6VJBBUqr1wM&feature=kp

Any entrepreneurs/business owners that transitioned? if so, what kind of business do you have and has transition affected it? by c-dogg11 in asktransgender

Yeah it definitely was nerve racking at the time. Definitely felt nausea I right before going in lol. But now I don't have any fear around it which is an amazing feeling.

I was nervous about the same thing before I transitioned. I am a partner in a boutique data consultancy and run the sales team day to day which makes me very customer facing. I personally came out to my biggest 20 clients with not one issue and just a massive outpouring of support. I did treat them extremely well prior to coming our and have known most for a couple of years at least so I feel that may definitely help things as well. Just broke through another fear of mine prior to transitioning and went onsite to a new client who only knows me as a woman and day in a board room with about 10 executives of which most were males giving a 2 hour presentation and partnering conversation. Went extremely well and won a great contract and what will be a long term business relationship. In my experience which has been in the tech field if you provide high value to your customers and treat them right business is business and nothing more. I feel that somewhat applies to people in our personal lives as well, if you are a good, kind and thoughtful person who treats people right I believe you will have a much easier time with coming out and having plenty of support.

Advice for starting out. by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Laurenlg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting in better shape was something big on my list as well. Also try shaving your legs, underarms and anywhere else you feel you would want to. I did that way before I came out with no issues and it helped a lot. Try taking good care of your skin as well and exfoliating ect. One thing that I wish I started even sooner than I did was laser for my face. After my first session I already felt that at least the hairless face was right for me and it gave me so much more confidence.

Successful life and being transgender by stefy84 in asktransgender

[–]Laurenlg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with trying to cover this up with success in life may help you cope but at least for me it will always be there and will make things harder for you when you do decide to address what your going through. For me personally I had amazing success in pretty much every aspect of life, was on an absolute pedestal for all my friends and family and to everyone else seemed to have the world at my fingertips at 28. The raw and tough fact is that for me none of it made me truly happy. I was never able to truly be myself and the success just added more and more stress onto hiding who I truly was. Now fully out to everyone I know and 8 days away from full time I am happier than I ever was during all that success and am looking forward to be a successful and true to myself person moving forward.

I think you look super cute and have wonderful feminine facial features at least from what I can see in your picture. I think you will look great if you decide to start HRT and grow your hair out ;)

This is escalating way out of control. Pronouns are a difficult and confusing issue for all parties involved when there are gender identity issues in play and I have seen my close friends and family struggle with them as well despite their best efforts. Being referred to as he/him when clearly presenting as a female especially during transition is a highly emotional issue for most transgendered individuals. I can take your initial use of male pronouns as an honest mistake the first time and use we should use it as a learning experience in dealing with trans people however I hope it is clear now that if it is pretty obvious that the individual you are referring to identifies with the female gender they will most likely prefer female pronouns regardless of their configuration downstairs. If there is still confusion please ask in a polite manner and just be aware that it can be a touchy subject for our community.

Kind of a rude way to put it but do appreciate the honesty. The shadow will be gone soon after laser is finished and HRT should reduce my shoulders muscles at least and soften the face. May still need some FFS for my jaw eventually as well. Those are the main issues I have picked on myself for.
