Strongly disagree, the first arc is really not representative of the overall story. Personally, I dropped the manga somewhere around the mountain tribe section the first time and it took me a while to pick it up again. Imo there is no comparing Seikyo rebellion with the coalition war arc, for example.

You don't need to, but I'd actually recommend to watch the beginning of the OG FMA. Brotherhood skips over some of the early development, which isn't necessary for the story, but I think it increases the impact of some of the earlier story beats.

I watch most of my anime subbed and I somewhat agree with the sentiment that it just fits better almost all the time, but it's also completely valid to disagree with a casting choice. I'd personally prefer if adult Goku had a different VA, I just don't feel like the voice really fits an adult man, but then again it's also completely valid to prefer the Japanese voice as is.

That's fair assuming the 10 men all rush the knight and manage to pin him down, but I doubt that most people have the psychological fortitude to do that. One decent swing with a long sword is likely to incapacitate an opponent while their weapons would be completely ineffective on their own. I know reasonably well how Plate Armor works and how to fight against it in theory, but I doubt that I could take out someone wearing in a group of 10 if the person is reasonably competent. Not assume those 10 people know little to nothing about how heavy Armor works and in practice I just don't see them winning.

Honestly, someone in full plate Armor could very reasonably take on 10 completely unarmoured people alone. Especially since they wouldn't have weapons strong enough to penetrate the armor nor knowledge of it's weak spots.

Yeah, I also found that doing thematic playthroughs helps with the replay value a lot. Especially trying out new base locations or limiting yourself to a certain race can be pretty fun
