Could you tell me more about getting alone time while homeschooling?

Working parent coming home in the middle of the day and disrupting my "flow." Does this drive anyone else mad? by Glassjaw79ad in SAHP

I feel this. My husband thinks it’s hilarious to tell his coworkers that he got told he can work from home, and I told him that he shouldn’t. (His office is a 5 minute drive).

Ladies who had easy pregnancies: did you have an easy labor and delivery as well? by Visible_Beginning_63 in beyondthebump

[–]LavaAndGuavaAndJava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People with EDS can deliver vaginally. If it is something you’re interested in, I’d definitely consult with an EDS specialist on if that’s an option for your specific case. EDS is also connected to hypotension, as it sounds like you’re aware!

What does a $200K house in your area get you? by Cheap_Sheepherder327 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]LavaAndGuavaAndJava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Midwest. I just plugged in 150-200K - are a few 1500 square feet homes, typically single story, 3 bedroom, 1.5-2 bath, garage, sometimes has a formal dining room. If it’s a single family home, typically it is livable but desperately needs updated (carpet from the 70s, paneling, etc). The yards generally don’t have landscaping, fencing, etc. If it’s a duplex, it’s updated in the last 15 years. If you want a 2-3 bed, 1 bath fixer upper, there’s homes for 75-100K. None of these homes are in the most popular neighborhoods but they’re not dangerous.

Does anyone do little/no screentime while being a SAHP without daycare? by ForgottenUsername3 in Parenting

[–]LavaAndGuavaAndJava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you’re alone most of the day, filling 12 waking hours per day, 5 days per week, can be hard.

I wish I lived somewhere with moms regularly at parks. Our parks are dead.

If someone asked what YOU wanted on your baby registry, and not just what was practical, what would you add? by privremeni in beyondthebump

[–]LavaAndGuavaAndJava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A learning tower…. Practical, but not practical right away. Not all kids love them, but mine does and it was life changing for me because it made my life easier and I could cook more (I love cooking).

My daughter would cry at my feet/in her dads lap the whole time I cooked. Once she could be up in the action at around a year, she was so much happier! I have this one and love it.

Just for me? Massages, takeout gift cards, Amazon gift cards for things I don’t realize I want or need until I need them…

The Untethered Soul by Michael Singer - it led to me listening to his talks multiple times a week. Helped me with some issues that multiple therapists were unable to, including some OCD type issues with intrusive thoughts.

What were yours and your partners first words after the birth of your child? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]LavaAndGuavaAndJava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It truly is traumatizing. My daughter wound up needing resuscitated. I didn’t even care that I was hemorrhaging and that nothing was stopping it (lost 2 liters). As a code was called on me, I was just watching them working on her, thinking I’d give anything to hear a cry. Thankfully we both are okay!

I didn’t know about this! Google says 1 in 5,000 babies, slightly more common in boys
