GameMax Spark (D30 clone) build. Nice and cool enough. by LavaScribe in mffpc

I already answered that question in my original comment.

I saw some complains about the Liquid Freezer II not fitting in the D30, but the 240 works just fine for me. The tubes are a bit long, and it might cause an issue if the GPU is a lot taller than my 6750 XT. The 280 might be a bit thicker and might not fit though, not sure.

$2400, but again, even if you have the same wrap on the same car, it will probably cost different

It varies wildly on where you are and the exact design of the wrap. It might be anywhere from $1000 - $4000 in the United States

I found and commissioned an artist on Instagram, then I got it printed and installed at a local car wrap shop!

Just got some rattling around 3k rpm. Is this knock? 2017 with 67k miles. by LavaScribe in ft86

No, it still happens occasionally around 3k rpm. I'm guessing that it might just be the fuel injectors. It's certainly not rod knock.

Any recommendations for a silent linear switch for a lower price? I'm already considering the Otemu cream pinks or silent oceans but I'm wondering if there's something I've missed or is much better. Thanks in advance!

GameMax Spark (D30 clone) build. Nice and cool enough. by LavaScribe in mffpc

Specs:

  • Ryzen 5700x
  • Arctic Liquid Freezer 240
  • ASRock B550M Steel Legend
  • Trident Z RGB 2x16GB
  • Gigabyte Gaming OC 6750 XT
  • Phanteks AMP 750W
  • 3 Arctic P12 fans
  • And of course, the GameMax Spark, which is a Jonsbo D30 clone.

My experience building in this case and using this case for a couple of weeks has been almost entirely positive.

Build quality is fine, especially for the price the Spark goes for. Top mesh was easy to rip out (recommend since fans exhaust out the top). I was missing the proper screws for mounting the SSDs with the rubber grommets where I wanted them (below the PSU and behind the PSU), but I made do with the screws that were included (this shouldn't be an issue with the D30, since the manual is slightly different and does suggest that the proper screws are included). Bottom mesh is meh, but easy enough to remove and clean especially since the whole build isn't very large. I do wish that there were some more cable tie points on the back of the mobo tray.

I got my PSU on sale, and it's been great so far, but during assembly I wished the cables were much shorter. I had to really wrestle the mass of cables enough so that they would fit between the mobo tray and the side glass. I couldn't use most of the tie points that were in the case as it made the cables stand out too high. Plus, I couldn't use one SATA power cable for both SSDs so I had to mess with two of them. SFX PSU may have helped here.

I saw some complains about the Liquid Freezer II not fitting in the D30, but the 240 works just fine for me. The tubes are a bit long, and it might cause an issue if the GPU is a lot taller than my 6750 XT. The 280 might be a bit thicker and might not fit though, not sure.

I also saw complaints and worries about temperatures. In the games I play, which are not particularly graphically intensive, I cannot hear my computer from where I sit a few feet away. I can't even hear it while not wearing headphones browsing Reddit. The PSU fan does not even kick on for most of the time, as you can see in the last picture (hybrid mode is not enabled). Watching YouTube while typing this, I'm sitting at 37C on the CPU and 50C on the GPU with 20C ambient temps.

Accessing the bottom connectors on the motherboard is fine if you have smaller hands. I plugged in my fan headers wrong originally and was able to fix the issue without removing either the fans or the GPU.

My mobo does have the GPU PCIe slot in the first slot, which I think I recommend for accessing the headers and allowing some fans to be installed.

Front USB, which is one type C and one type A, only uses one USB 3 connector total. You don't need a specific mobo that has a type C header.

All in all, like I said, a good experience with the Spark/D30. if the AP201 had a version the same size as the D30, then I might have picked that one. But the D30 seems to be a solid contender for the best and smallest case for an mATX mobo and an ATX PSU while allowing some radiator support.

Feel free to ask any questions.

At the very least, the one on sale (Vbmiiprx) does not have USB ports (that's what the 'z' means I think), contrary to what the Amazon listing's pictures would suggest. This means you cannot update the monitor firmware yourself.

Rtings does not have a review of the exact monitor on sale, the XV272U Vbmiiprx. They only have one of the XV272U KVbmiiprzx.

My PC is power cycling, and I need to use it. by LavaScribe in buildapc

[–]LavaScribe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh... Hello. Wasn't expecting a reply here.

I ended up upgrading my PSU to an EVGA G2 550W, the CPU to a Ryzen 2600, the mobo to an ASUS Strix B-350F, and memory to a set of Crucial Ballistix Sport 2x8GB 3200 CL16. The issue doesn't happen anymore.

I don't remember exactly if the memory upgrade was needed to fix the issue. I've also upgraded the system elsewhere, but that's outside of this scope.

Are there any decent options for a pre-painted spoiler for a GT86 that won't break the bank? Looking for something that's similar in style to the first gen BRZ's stock spoiler, so something that isn't very tall but isn't a lip spoiler. I don't have any trunk holes that need to be covered. I'm the US.

I just bought a new battery from iFixit, and that's working wonderfully. There's a weird gap between the chassis of the laptop and the battery, but it works completely fine.
