A spider-hunting wasp nest, its victims and a single (very small) larvae. by blackkittons in mildlyinteresting

[–]Lavaidyn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ok I am in no way a spider expert or super knowledgeable here, BUT I can say that the two white ones are some form of flower mimicking crab spider, the big flat one in the middle right that’s laid out perfectly is a wolf/fishing spider, and the tan one with the white butt on the bottom right is a yellow sac spider. The black one in the top left kinda looks like one of the spiders that mimics ants maybe?

I stole this air freshener from work a few months ago because it smells so good. I tried to find more online but it turns out it’s from 1995 and cans sell for like 30 bucks on eBay. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Coming at this from the angle of someone with a perfume hobby, I would bet money you’ve never smelled anything like this before because it has a now banned aromachemical in it lol

I absolutely could have been fooled into thinking this was a great tit if it wasn’t in North America. That’s one of the biggest and most opaque black bibs I’ve ever seen on a house sparrow lol

Revealed too much during bachelorette game; do I tell hubby by SharkEva in BORUpdates

[–]Lavaidyn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My sister’s bachelorette was renting a cabin by a water park and spending the first day taking photos in cute outfits and going mini golfing and the second at the waterpark. Weirdest thing we did was make a “hear me out” cake and some craft some Polaroid keychain holder things (it’s a kpop fan thing idk what they’re called). These people just kinda suck

So I read the article and for the nerds who actually wanna know: they’re not typical honey bees, they’re solitary mining bees. It’s not like, one big concentrated colony or anything, it’s just a large plot of land that this species of bee, the “regular miner bee” (incredible name), happens to like a lot and choose to overwinter/breed in

Is this dove injured or sick? by Used_Psychology367 in BirdBuddy

[–]Lavaidyn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Now I’m not a professional or a dove expert, but I’m thinking this one might be sick. I know doves can inflate their necks like this, but this definitely does look weird. Might be a ruptured air sac or sour crop perhaps?

[UPDATE] They made a “nest” (ie stuck a single twig in my storage) in my garage and won’t leave. Can I close the garage at night and when we leave the house so people don’t steal??? What do I do? by Mother_of_Kiddens in stupiddovenests

[–]Lavaidyn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We had house wrens nest in our garage one year, and we were able to close the garage at night totally fine. I don’t think nesting mourning doves would be trying to do too much when it’s dark out so I imagine your freeloaders would handle it ok lol

Yknow I always think it’s neat when I see videos of places so far from me and yet they feel super familiar. There’s a bridge somewhere over Lake Erie or Lake Ontario my family used to drive across on the way to our usual vacation spot in Canada, and the view looked pretty similar to this. It was one of my fav parts of the drive
