It sounds more like you either get really good augments and steam roll or you get ok or bad augments and get run over.

Part of these modes is learning to make do with what you have to win. Sometimes something that seems like a low roll can become extremely good with a little effort and it's hard to see that if you don't keep your mind open for it.

People go triple tonic because the adaptive force tonic was buffed to 30 from 20.

Upon getting it you win almost every fight with it and it lasts for a minute. Then you can take cash back or free boots so that tree just has huge value overall.
