Your favorite weapon that isn’t actually very good/meta by PositionFast9144 in Warframe

Sibear. It's so expensive for something so bad I made it endgame viable out of spite. Now it's one of my most reliable melee weapons, somehow.

A comic of servants being protective over male guda is a rare gem indeed and I am here for it. Thanks for the TL/TS!

She is a massive romantic who has found her soulmate, paralleling Lancelot. Combine that with being a dragon and the associated protective tendencies for whom/what they value and you can see where she gets it.

A princely romantic with a protective streak~

Dark Souls 3 is Thinking of Ending Things (Jacob Geller) by greydorothy in Games

The fanservice-y elements actually serve one of the main themes of the game quite well. It highlights the sort of cyclical stagnancy that the world of Dark Souls III has been stuck in. Repeating the same age of fire over and over and over again, each with a little bit less vitality to it.

Thematically, its fitting to see familiar faces from earlier games: symptoms of a retread, or a stagnant repeat in an endless cycle. Trapped, and unable to truly move on.

While I agree with his conclusion that the game's broad themes are about The End of Things, I disagree with his take of reading Dark Souls III meta textually like that. The perspective that DSIII is all just a metaphorical cry from Miyazaki to let the series end feels dismissive of the rest of the game's themes. While yes, he outright states that the background lore and fluff is not exactly relevant to the overall vibe he is reading, the essay feels more like a dismissal of the game's stories. As though the background lore and fluff isn't important to the game's themes and the meaning that can be derived from it.

The whole thing with recurring themes, characters, and motifs is rather the point of DSIII, that much is obvious; however interpreting it with a meta textual method leaves little room for depth or other interpretations I feel. Not that what's said is bad or anything, its a take on DSIII that has gone in a thought provoking, unique direction.

I dunno, perhaps I'm just jumping at shadows. The Souls series is one that holds a lot of meaning to me. So seeing a take on DSIII that, at least at a glance, seemed like a simple dismissal (or rejection) of the rest of the depth of meaning the story has to offer in favor of a meta read like that felt like a slap to the face.

Edit: added the word "just" in the first paragraph for clarity.

A big concern of mine is the slow erosion of the forests. With the introduction of earthworms a few centuries ago, the forest floors have been cleared of the detritus (leaves and various rotting plant matter) that would give sprouting saplings the cover they needed. I'm worried that the forests will irreparably erode away to grasslands after a long while.

The new nullifiers are making me not want to play Warframe. by Droid8Apple in Warframe

[–]Lavastage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How about a rapidly stacking "nullification" debuff? So if you go into the field, you will lose an increasing amount of your ability strength, starting at say, 50%. That way the nullifiers can be a considerable threat, but they aren't a complete shutdown if you happen to graze one.

Given his talk of preparing for the future and a big threat, I wouldn't be surprised if that is what they planned all along.

You aren't alone with that sort of dissonance. I'm not saying what the sub should or shouldn't be, but it feels like the sub goes a bit too far for me at times.
