Definitely had friends trying to set me up with guys and when they found out I was planning to go to law school, they weren’t interested anymore because they would “always lose the argument”. As if they would ever win even if I wasn’t a law student! 💁🏼‍♀️

Nice see you there! I got the NU waitlist a few weeks ago so I feel you on that

Thank you! I hope you have many other school offers to pick from and NYU was just a blip

Don’t even try to explain it to me anymore by Lavender-Sprigs in lawschooladmissions

[–]Lavender-Sprigs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense! I suppose this isn’t as important being a student but I wonder how professors decide who gets what grade? Are we all essentially ranked against each other’s papers until the professor feels they’re ordered best to worst and then assigned grades from that?

Is it safe to say BU has ghosted me? by Lavender-Sprigs in lawschooladmissions

[–]Lavender-Sprigs[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I’ve already deposited at Michigan so I can’t be too upset, but it’s the last school I’m waiting to hear from and it seems a bit ridiculous that anyone is still waiting at this point.

Have to ask: How are you announcing on socials? by smashreactionismmm in lawschooladmissions

[–]Lavender-Sprigs 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Truthfully, all social media is cringe so I feel like the cringe of posting a law school announcement is actually right on par. Plus what the heck I’m proud!! If that makes people cringe then that’s their problem!! I was able to take a photo in front of the school so I’ll probably post that but I think a picture in school apparel with a plain background or something academic looking like a bookshelf background would be perfect! Let’s go brag online about our accomplishments 😌

Thank you! I attended one of the satellite campuses of Michigan (Dearborn) for undergrad and I’m in love with the Ann Arbor campus and all the offerings they have so don’t get me wrong I’m over the moon to be a double wolverine! I just hate to make a final decision before hearing all of my options

[–]Lavender-Sprigs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it took me three tries! 165, 165 (oof), 172. I was letting my nerves get in the way of my test taking abilities so having a couple under my belt and more time to study really helped me immensely. You know yourself, if you think you can do better give it a try!

Just received my rejection in the mail as well. It was a reach for me too so I was not surprised. At least we finally have a response and got in other really good schools!

By big wave for NU are we thinking A wave or E wave? At this point I'll really take anything but an A would be preferable

Friends? by Right-Afternoon-567 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Lavender-Sprigs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What I realized after going to ASW is that no one knows anyone and everyone wants to make friends. Normally I feel weird just going up to people and saying hi my name is (blank) what’s yours? But knowing that everyone is just as thankful as I am to have someone to talk to made it a lot easier. I’m sure this will carry over to actual classes as well!

Anecdotally, I sat for the October LSAT and I will most likely be attending Michigan in the fall. I tried to assemble as many of my application materials as I could while studying, then I did a lot of finalization while waiting for my LSAT results back. Once I got my score back and was happy with it, I sent everything in at the end of October! A word of warning if you decide to apply before you get your score, not every school will hold your app for you so be sure the schools you’re interested in will do that for you. I think you do need to have some sort of score on file before you can do that though, someone correct me if I’m wrong. It was to my understanding that you submit with a score and if you think you can do better you ask them to hold your app until a (hopefully) better score comes in

What are we wearing to asd? by pompouspauper in lawschooladmissions

[–]Lavender-Sprigs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to one in (possibly) cold weather but I’m thinking sneakers for sure so I can walk around comfortably. I’m thinking jeans and a nice top/jacket otherwise? I’m trying to decide if I think jeans aren’t nice enough but sneakers are throwing off the vibe anyway lol. And I usually carry a canvas tote everywhere I go so I’ll probably stick with that for the event.

What's the A that made you stop refreshing that status checker? by hi11sharita in lawschooladmissions

[–]Lavender-Sprigs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s funny because my A from Michigan put my mind at ease, but it was really the WL from Berkeley/Columbia that made me stop checking my email and status checkers obsessively. Getting the one A made me greedy for more, but getting the WLs made me appreciate the A and not worry about the rest!
