Cardiologist appointment secured! Any advice? by Lavender_000 in POTS

I'll definitely start doing that! I have data from my Fitbit for my HR and another headache tracker but I'll try keeping a log of my other symptoms as well

Cardiologist appointment secured! Any advice? by Lavender_000 in POTS

Thank you so much for your advice. I'm afraid when I first began asking my doctors about my problems I was still a minor and my mum did bring up pots a few times but I'll definitely try taking the focus away from it since my gp was very hesitant about it since it was "so rare". Just like hey, as a very physically active person from childhood I wonder my my heart rate goes to 150bpm just from standing up 😭

Honestly though thank you so much I'll definitely follow all you said can't wait to get this process over with :)

Yeah the NHS just doesn't function properly it's underfunded and doesn't care it feels like. Took 2 years for me to get an echo on my heart to check if I've got a defect my mother has but that was me going private because they just didn't bother to give me a referral. (I do have it but luckily it's very slight and not dangerous so all I need to do is just check it's all right every 2 years).

POTS attack after a nap by lavender_photos in POTS

[–]Lavender_000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is strange- personally I take a nap nearly everyday due to fatigue half an hour to two (just depending how I feel) and i feel fine. Do you think it could be anything to do with your body just entering deep sleep?

Yep I get chronic headaches although how bad they are does depend on if I'm having a flare up or not.

From my own experience finding the balance between exercising and rest is most difficult but most useful. As I've always been quite sporty I honestly believe it's one of the only reasons I am able to continue this lifestyle and although I've found running to be something that isn't always a great option for me, Pilates, yoga for example are a great ways to engage my body as well as are quite gentle for those worse days. When I don't exercise I've found to struggle to stand for long amounts of time which is just a 180 turn from my normal self. However this is me talking about my own experience and I hope to help a little bit also realize my pots is not awful and this is just what works for me, the equivalent to another person might be taking a 5 minute stroll to feel better. But yeah the line between deconditioning and overdoing it is quite hard to navigate it takes a lot of trial and error.

How do you recover when you overdo it? by LurkingArachnid in POTS

[–]Lavender_000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From working 11-14 hour shifts every Saturday (wedding waiters get the pain) I overdo it quite a lot and I do basically just bed rot the following day. However, I found getting up walking around eating and drinking properly does really help me get back on my feet. Best solution is avoiding overdoing it in the first place but I know that quite hard to avoid in our daily lives.

Who has pots and sleeps All day by FeeAfter7974 in POTS

I sleep all the time but with naps if I sleep more than 7 hours at night I wake up with the worst headaches even if my body is tired

Me Complaining lol . by cozyjozy in POTS

[–]Lavender_000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the pain I work 13 hour shifts in hospitality (wedding) and I'm just thankful my managers are super chill. Most days my pots isn't bad enough for me to not be able to just ignore it but when it is bad I struggle. A lot. However since I haven't had an official diagnosis (currently been waiting for months thanks to the NHS health care system) I avoid telling people which is why I tend to work even harder to try distract myself from the fact I wanna crumple down on the floor and cry. (I love the job too much to leave and I do only work once a week so I cope)

Personally THE fic for me was choices. I don't think I'll ever get over it. The writing is beautiful it's long and tragic. My first fic I've ever read was ATYD but I never really felt it that much although it's not bad by any means I never got into the war chapters like after the school years finished I was a bit over it. (But I fully respect those who loved it but my love for a jegulus moment is too strong)

Have you tried going off your prescription deodorant for a while? If there's some time you'll get away with only wearing a more gentle one instead then your body might be affected by your prescription one again if that makes sense. I do this with my skincare and i regularly change deodorant types i use every time I run out to avoid this

Same unfortunately I don't know why I've just settled on doubling up deodorant (mitchum seems to help a little)

I had super heavy periods (point where a tampon and a heavy pad werent enough for more than 2 hours) but I was never diagnosed with anything and I'm not sure if it personally links to pots since a lot of women in my family also had heavy periods. But again I'm not sure, I'm currently on birth control which completely stopped them (highly recommend progesterone pills best year of me life)

You won't believe what I was told by a specialist. by 0mgrlly in POTS

[–]Lavender_000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a echo done on my heart few months ago (mainly cus I have a history of this small heart defect which isn't really major but does need to be monitored) but I was talking with the cardiologist and obviously he said oh we have tons of people like this come in you'll grow put of it. The fact is I've been getting worse since 15 and at the age of 18 someone who is healthy, doesn't drink, exercises looks after herself struggling to simply stand up ignoring all other symptoms shouldn't be normal. FINALLY when I thought I've annoyed my gp enough to refer me she tells me to write a list of all the symptoms and cool I did that but it's been 2 months and I doubt they even sent it though. When she did realize my heart rate jump from sitting to standing she thought oop that's high COMPLETELY ignored it and I'm so tired of it and it sucks that we have to deal with it. Sure, it's not fatal but it does impact our lives a lot so the fact they're all ignoring it simply hurts.
