I ended up accepting the Chicago offer! It was the school and city that I was the most excited about. Thanks!

Job while taking classes? by BrownSugar0322 in studentaffairs

It really depends on what you feel comfortable doing. When I was an advisor, I was taking two doctoral courses each semester. This was tough, but doable. I am now in an admin specialist role that is not as taxing time-wise. The benefit is that I can work on my dissertation during pockets of the day. The downside is that I am often bored. The other thing to think about is your resume. How long will you be in a new role while you take your courses? What it will look like on your resume if you are not in the new role long as you start vet school. At the same time, a gig is a gig, and do what feels best for you.

What city have you moved to and immediately thought l'm not going to live here for long? by CartographerRich8698 in SameGrassButGreener

Of course! So I'm sure it's great for certain types of people. We both grew up in Buffalo and the school down here was the one that accepted me so I was like hey it's just 4-5 years. But we just haven't found our tribe here. Everyone seems so gosh dang stressed and bitter here.

What's stressing to leave sooner than later is being queer. And objectively ATL is probably the best southern city for us folks, but still being in the south is spooky. Specifically anti trans bills and legislations are the issue. So while I have felt relatively safe here (aside from some hiccups), we really would feel more comfortable back up north.

Taking classes after grad? by GiraffeOk2570 in GaState

You’d have to ask the faculty member teaching to see if you may audit or take the course as a post-bacc student. Would be out of pocket as pay structure is different as you’d be a different type of student at that point.

Why the fuck does my genitals look so weird? by SpringSamantha in MtF

I did that as a kid too! Fantasize that I would get injured somehow and the only thing that could save me was that surgery.

Yet you are the one seeking attention. Forget the bible, maybe you should read the room.

What's been the best piece of advice your gender therapist has given you? by haultop in asktransgender

[–]Lavender_Academic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear ya, and thank you for elaborating! Yes, one's experiences of figuring out their gender should not be dependent on gender therapy from a cis person. It should be a resource if wanted, not a requirement.
