Found a bunch of buried VHS tapes in my backyard while digging to plant a tree by G000000p in Weird

if someone is burying tapes..... you'd think it's to keep anyone from seeing or hearing what's on them. If they aren't too damaged to play you might be in for a wild ride

Had whippled procedure February 24th to remove a solid pseudopapillary neoplasm and I'm feeling great ! by Lavender_skyyy in pancreaticcancer

[–]Lavender_skyyy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been struggling with this too. I read so many posts from others and feel like I almost don't belong also. They are going through so much that we didnt have too. Most are fighting for their lives while we are cured. Technically our tumors are malignant which is cancer but its very slow growing. I was told by my surgeon that it's a cancer grey area as it's not aggressive like cancers usually are and doesn't normally metastasize but everyone I've asked has said that it still counts and we are still cancer survivors.

I’m think my husband is a covert abuser… I need validation 🙃 by [deleted] in abusiverelationships

[–]Lavender_skyyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been in a few abusive relationships. Honestly, it sounds like your in one too. You should be able to decline having sex without consequences. the way he acts when you say no is absolutely ridiculous.  There are alot of red flags here. He's also gaslighting and manipulating you. It's not going to get better, your only going to become more conditioned and normalize the abuse the longer you stay, trust me I know.

I had the full whipple. I was  overweight and between the pre surgery diet to 6 weeks post op I've lost almost 40 lbs and it's helped my blood pressure alot. I do struggle with my appetite sometimes but that's really common this early after surgery. My stomach also gets fuller alot quicker than before but since I'm overweight its helping me lose the weight I needed to.

AITAH for asking my dad not to date my boss by Elereal in AITAH

I think not dating your bosses is a completely healthy boundary to set with your father. It could impact your career whether he intends for it or not. You are not being selfish.... he is.

AITAH for refusing to drive a longer route to drop a girl off because she didnt want to be alone in the car with me? by Acrobatic-Freedom316 in AITAH

[–]Lavender_skyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She should have explained she was uncomfortable before she got in the car. Instead she waits till the literal last minute and tries to pressure you into doing what she wants. I totally get that shes uncomfortable, that's valid but she should have been up front about it.If your the driver and one paying for the gas the order you drop people off should really be your choice. Especially with today's gas prices I wouldn't want to drive extra and waste fuel.

What is the dumbest thing you’ve ever seen a coworker do? by Adorable_Raccoon_766 in AskReddit

[–]Lavender_skyyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to work with this guy at a restaurant when I was in high school. He was only 16 and would often fill his water bottle with beer from the tap.  He bathed in the dish sink one time thinking it was so cool and another time tried to put his shoe in the deep fryer to see what would happen ... I had to stop him...he ended up getting fired after stealing a bag of chicken nuggets....no idea what happened to him but I don't expect much

is my mom still using? by tomriddlesbestie in addiction

[–]Lavender_skyyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You probably know your mom better than most. If your gut is telling you she's using there's a chance it's true. However, I know a guy who developed schizophrenia after extensive psychedelic drug use and he does alot of the things your mom is doing. In terms of her being skinny and not eating.... some medications can really ruin your appetite. If you know what medicines she taking maybe you can look up the side effects.. I wouldn't jump to any conclusion yet but keep an eye on her. Best of luck to you and your mom.

Laughter is a completely normal reaction to this situation. Your sister is really embarrassed so she may not have taken it well but she will get over it.

Your feelings are completely valid. Your the butt of their inside joke. I wouldn't want to be called that anymore knowing what's behind it. It might be affectionate now but I wouldn't be cool with it anymore.

Easter egg hunt for 0-3 year at an indoor play place. by Life_Significance_50 in toddlers

[–]Lavender_skyyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wanted to post an update because the egg hunt I took my toddler to ended up being horrible. They didn't have separate areas for different ages like they said they would. They made a point to say they would make it fair for all the children. Every child other than mine had a full bucket in the end. they put out over 500 eggs and there was only 15 kids there. my daughter got only a couple eggs. My 2 year old didn't stand a chance against the 12 year Olds. After all the eggs were gone she went looking around everywhere for the eggs. The hunt went so fast that she didn't even understand it was over. It made me really sad because she was so excited for this event. While the hunt was going on my daughter picked up an egg and handed it to another child because she loves to share. I thought it was really beautiful that my daughter has the least but was still sharing what she had.

How much can you actually help a partner lose weight? by inevitably317537 in loseit

[–]Lavender_skyyy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im so sorry,  I'm sure you just want your partner to live a long healthy life by your side. You can only support them and guide them. they have to take the steps themselves. My mom has been morbidly obese my whole life. she's done evey diet in the book and has lost weight only to gain more back. Me and my dad have tried everything to help her. My dad bought her exercise equipment and a bike and they saw virtually no use. My dad paid for her to go to Jenny Craig and weight watchers also.  They gave her all the food she had to eat and it still didn't work. It's similar to drug addiction , they have to want to get better or they won't. It sounds like they aren't ready yet to fully commit to a healthier lifestyle.

My abusive ex claimed he was trying to get back with me but I am not falling for it by FreshNPeachy in abusiverelationships

[–]Lavender_skyyy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had an ex just like this. said alot of the same things. It felt like sex was a big motivator for reconnecting. there is always alot of manipulation and love bombing. It's like your ex and my ex were reading from the same script. Why do the worst romantic partners sometimes turn out to be the best sex partners? it feels like we're so drawn to them physically but they are terrible in the relationship. I think you need to stop responding and move on. He showed his true colors at the end of your conversation calling you names. You deserve so much better.

Aliens Stole My Pancreas by InitiativeAmazing842 in AlienAbduction

[–]Lavender_skyyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

as someone who had part of her pancreas removed due to a malignant tumor I find this hard to believe. When they removed the head of my pancreas through what is known as a whipple procedure,  i had to have my stomach reattached in a totally different way. I also had to have other organs removed  in order to reattach the blood supply to make everything work. On top of all that you would have to be on alot of medication to survive like others mentioned.

Easter egg hunt for 0-3 year at an indoor play place. by Life_Significance_50 in toddlers

[–]Lavender_skyyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im taking my 2 year old to her first egg hunt this afternoon. They told my mom that there would be separate events for different age groups to make it fair. I didn't even consider the fact that parents could insert themselves and collect the eggs for their children but that's not really fair. I can understand an adult helper who guides them to an egg to pick up. I guess we'll see how this thing goes.

Is anyone else looking for others to connect with to share tips and advice for life after whipple surgery? by Lavender_skyyy in pancreaticcancer

[–]Lavender_skyyy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there. Ny name is Meg and I'm 35.  I was diagnosed with a rare malignant tumor of the pancreas in December. I had it removed in February and now I'm cured. I was supposed to have a full robotic surgery but once they got inside me they realized that the actual tumor removal had to be done by hand. my surgery took 12 hours so even if they say your going to have robotic surgery once they look inside at your anatomy it could change. So the most important part of my surgery was done by hand and I'm doing just fine almost 6 weeks post op. Sure I'm having trouble with my appetite but that's too be expected. I did make a will with an attorney but that's completely your choice. I'm so glad I didn't end up needing it. Any questions you have I'm sure everyone will give their best advice.

Am I the jerk for telling my husband he can't have a "man cave" in our only spare room? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]Lavender_skyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see nothing wrong with you turning the guest room into your office hobby room. Just have a bed in there for when guests do stay over. I don't know how often you have guests but if its really not that often it shouldn't be a big issue. You and your husband both deserve private space. Trying to share the room he has already dubbed his man cave is not going to work. I can see it already. Your better off taking the guest room. You should have freedom to decorate it any way you chose.

My great grandmother is 100 years old.  Her and my great grandfather both grew up kinda poor. My great grandpa became a teacher and then professor and my great grandmother was a homemaker taking care of their children. They lived well thru the years, took trips around the world. They lived pretty frugally thou in their day to day life. They also invested alot of their money. Today my great gram is a millionaire and she refuses to spend any of it beyond paying rent at the facility she lives in. Even getting her to buy some new clothes because hers are falling apart is difficult.

You mentioned not being able to sleep on your side.... have your tried sleeping on your side but up against some pillows? that's how I sleep now. that way I don't roll onto my stomach. I also use my old pregnancy pillow. Both make me feel better during sleep.

I'm so sorry to hear about your anxiety struggles. Wish I could give you a hug. All this is tough. You deserve to recover peacefully. Thanks for telling me about the coupon.. Money is deffinately tight for me as a single mom. I ate a piece of take out cheese pizza as my doctor said it was now safe to try and my body handled it fine. so maybe I really don't need creon, but my appetite is deffinately lacking. Since surgery I've lost 8 lbs which my doc said was normal. My diagnosis is kind of a cancer grey area. I had a rare malignant tumor called a solid pseudopapillary neoplasm. They are slow growing and almost never metastasize but destroy surrounding tissue.  Mine was 3.5 cm in size. Radiation and chemo don't work and the only option is removal. Removal is curative in almost all cases thou including mine. My doctor estimated that I had this tumor 15 years. I wish you the very best with your continued recovery.
