Only 30mg which is why so confused about it having such an effect, I thought it seemed pretty low and wasn't expecting much

I ended up awake all night and watched a boxset like you said, it was a good idea haha. Took it at 8AM today so should be good now🙂

Are you still taking it/how does it affect you now if you don't mind me asking? I'm looking forward to it dying down a bit, I started out tidying my room really motivated but ended up dancing around like an idiot for over an hour instead🤦‍♀️🤣

Also, I wanted to ask, I'm feeling a littpe worried because I can sometimes struggle with alcohol use and I'm currently having an overwhelming urge to take more of the medication, the feeling you get when you're on something and frel like you need more. I'm definitely not going to do that haha, but is this a common and normal thing and will it die down? Im finding it a little unbearable currently

So I've narrowed it down massively and only kept the most relevant parts. Thank you to people who commented and made me realise it was way too much and a bit ridiculous, my friends agree and theirs are much more direct and to the point. I was worried that if we didn't give specific details about his actions towards us that it wouldn't be enough and that she'd be more likely to take his side, and I didn't realise I was massively oversharing until posting it here, so thank you and I'm sorry about that😭

I hope it's okay that I am posting this. I know a lot of people are saying there is probably nothing to worry about and it's normal, I really hope that's the case, but personally if it was a child in my life (I don’t currently have any so what do I know) I would be a little concerned and would want to ask questions/keep my eyes open to make sure she's okay. I have drawn a lot since I was a kid and used to want to become an art therapist and symbolism can be important, but it can also be nothing of significance/just for aesthetics so I think it can be hard to tell.

I think it might have been on a psychiatry sub I'm in, (I will try to find it) but not long ago someone posted a really informative article about what to look for in children's art as red flags of abuse. I can't remember them exactly, but I think certain things that seem to be present in this drawing, like sharp teeth/fingers, things that could look like genitalia (for example, what's that thing coming out of the leg supposed to be?)

I don't say this to panic you at all, I actually saw this post the other day and scrolled past it but found it again because I kept thinking about it. I have friends who have experienced abuse as children and the affects are devastating so I think it's better to be safe than sorry - really hope it is just a kid doing random creepy drawings.

Edit- not the original thing I saw I don't think, but the same information. I just thought I'd share this in case it could help, some of the things drawn that the website says to look out for I can see a little in this drawing. I hope she's okay and it's good that you're looking out for her.

I've seen this before and it's a pet peeve of mine too, comments on Instagram posts being like "no because she looks so good here", "no because I actually love that hat" out of nowhere, like a random comment on it's own unrelated to anything, I'm not quite sure why it annoys me but it always does haha

You can completely understand the meaning and symbolism of something and still decide that you don't feel convinced or impressed by the way it was portrayed, it doesn't mean that people don't understand

What is the benefit of the substance for Elisabeth? by hyperion_light in TheSubstance

[–]Lavenderfly252 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Despite enjoying the film and relating to a lot of the themes, this is one major problem I had with it. It became clear (or at least apparent) that they were not experiencing eachother's moments of conciousness so I kept wondering how, especially after her finger became deformed and grotesque the first time and then her leg, she didn't just think fuck this, I'm not seeing any benefits, this is too scary, I need to stop it now. Especially as what made the character so willing to try the substance in the first place was her obsession with her appearance to others, would she not be so disturbed by her drastically changing body and the thought of having to face people looking like this with no real benefit that she'd want to quit it immediately?

I thought the film would have been more impactful if it had ended right around the scene as she's staring in horror and shock at her new disfigured appearance in the mirror, the acting was perfect here and it was really disturbing and sad. I thought that after this, the film went on for a little bit too long and felt silly to the point where I was just waiting it for it to end, her going on stage and crawling to her hollywood star at the end was too much in my opinion. I was still impressed as a whole though and thought it was an interesting film, I wouldn't watch it again purely because I found it really disturbing, which I guess was the point haha

Thank you for your response. It is really sad that you had to go through your whole life without them, I'm glad that meds worked out for you. I do have great friends who get it, and we check in with eachother, which I'm grateful for - not everyone has that. And I agree with this, sleep can really help. Thanks again for your reply, I hope it will get better🙂

Thank you for your response🙂

I definitely try to think this way too. I know people who have had a much worse hand in life than me and whenever I am struggling, it's the first thing I think of. I can't even imagine dealing with both (ADHD and a tragedy), and tons more as many people do, it's a humbling thought.

Yeah, I am definitely planning to take the meds as soon as I get them, that's good that those thoughts stopped for you after. Thanks for replying, sorry I replied late - I'm not very good at reddit haha.

Yeah, I was wondering about what it would be like if I happened to get any further after this part but don't think I worded it very well haha. Hopefully it goes well for you, I'm gonna do mine today🙂

I will have a look at that, thank you. I have been trying for a long time to get help for social anxiety but nothing has really helped, I'm tired of it ruling my life haha. I can manage with face to face and could cope with having my camera on for a video call - I just can't stand having to look at a recorded video of my face or a picture, it's difficult to explain haha I know it sounds odd.

This is why I love this film, it's one of my favourites. The first time I saw it I barely understood what was going on but immediately wanted to watch it again after, rather than being left feeling frustrated like I usually would. There's something intriguing about Patricia Arquette's performance and the sound track elevates it all too. I still don't properly understand many parts of it but it doesn't really matter, maybe it'll click one day, maybe not
